「尻をぬぐう」

(2006-02-28)
There is a big difference between Japanese expressions and English expressions.

Today, I wanted to write about a latest scandal of the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party used a fake e-mail for evidence. It was silly news. Mr. Maehara who is the party leader of the Democratic Party, is really young. It seems fresh but powerless. The person of influences helped him in that scandal.
I thought they had to reap the harvest of him.

I didn’t know the expression ‘reap the harvest of ‘ , so I were looking for that expression in my dictionary, and I found it. I was really surprised because the expression was a long distance from Japanese’s. In Japanese, we say ‘wipe someone’s buttocks’. It is the same as ‘attend to all someone's personal needs’. English expression seems that people do ‘reap the harvest of’ with a joy. But Japanese expression seems that the people do ‘wipe someone’s buttocks’ out of necessity.

Studying is very interesting sometimes.

LESS THAN 1000YEN

(2006-02-27)
I don’t usually bring lots of money. I always bring less than 10,000yen. When it is below 2000yen, I put next 10,000yen in my wallet. Someone ask me if I am anxiety, but I don’t feel anything. If I need money, I can go to a bank and draw out some money, or most of shops accept a credit card.
This morning, on a train, I realized I had only 1,000yen. I usually buy bread and a drink for my breakfast. And today, I have to eat out. My cash is too short. But I don’t think I can go to a bank before 6:00P.M. If I cannot go there before 6:00P.M., I have to pay for an extra charge. I have to look for secret savings.

JAPAN WON THE GOLD MEDAL!

(2006-02-24)
Finally, Japan won the Gold Medal. I watched Shizuka Arakawa’s skating. It was beautiful and smooth. I could see aura of her. I really want to say congratulations.

During the Olympic games, every TV station hires sports commentators. NHK invited Yuka Satou and TBS invited Midori Itou for women’s figure skating. As you know, both of them used to be a world champion.

I have never heard Midori Itou’s talk. I listened it a couple of days ago and I was really surprised. She doesn’t know how to speak. Her talk doesn’t seem an adult. She spoke as a kid talks to his/her friends. In my opinion, people shouldn't talk to us impolite on TV.

I have known her since she was 10 years old. She was called as skating prodigy.
I think people taught her how to skate but nobody taught her how to speak.

I hope she has a good friend and he/she gives her a few words of warning attention about her talk.

I AM KIND.

(2006-02-23)
Last night I met a woman. She talked to me on my way home. She said she needed my help.
First I thought she was blind but she wasn’t. She just couldn’t walk without someone’s help. I said that it was fine and I took her to the station.
She grabbed my left arm very strongly. I thought, if I wore a sweater, my sweater would stretch out.
We had to walk so slowly. I asked her how she always did. She said she always asked someone to help. I thought she was lucky because she lived in Osaka. If she lived in Tokyo, it would be too hard to find a person who helped her.
I took her at the entrance gate of Temmabashi Station. When I left there, she talked to another girl. I gazed after her and went home.
I felt tired a little. I think doing good thing is enough only once a year.

HIDA IS A GOOD IZAKAYA -3-

(2006-02-22)
Rieko ate a lot. We ordered 4 Onigiri. I thought we shared them. I ate one of them but the others were eaten by Rieko. I was shocked and I stared at her.

We ordered a lot of beer and food. When I realized, the other guys were drunken. We stayed there more than 3 hours. When we paid, the others couldn’t count. They were typical drunken persons.

Akemi couldn’t walk but they wanted to go to a next Izakaya. We visited two Izakaya but both two were busy. When we were looking for a next Izakaya, a master of chicken food shop called us and he said he had a good chicken. We decided to go there. We ordered beer and food. Just after we started to drink, Rieko fell on a sleep and Akemi said that she would leave there. We stayed there for a short time and left there.
Akemi wanted to get a taxi, so Akemi and I got on the taxi and went home.

When I drink with them, I always feel I am a curator. I think they need me because if I didn't go for a drink with them, they would sleep on a road.

We will meet next month. We go on hiking. I think we will be able to spend a healthy day.

HIDA IS A GOOD IZAKAYA -2-

(2006-02-21)
First, we drank beer and then they changed beer to sho-chu because the waitress recommended us good sho-chu. Of course, I drank only one glass of beer, and after that I drank oolong-tea.
Rieko complained about her co-workers as usual. Her co-workers are my ex-coworkers. If I were to work with them, I would complain like Rieko. They are terrible.
After we ate the crabs, the waitress recommended a blowfish. She said they had a really fresh blowfish. We ordered the blowfish.
I think she is a great waitress. She always comes to our table at a good timing. And she recommends us tasty but expensive things. When she comes to our table, we haven’t decided what we will order next, so we always follow her.

HIDA IS A GOOD IZAKAYA.

(2006-02-20)
I met Kiyomi, Akemi and Rieko last Saturday.
They are drinking buddies, so I don’t know why I’m always with them. But I know, if I don’t go with them, they will never know where they went, what they ate, when and how much they paid and when they went home.

We met at Hirakata Station and went to Hida. Hida is a kind of Izakaya but they always have fresh fish. We wanted to eat a sharp-toothed eel but they only have it in summer. A waitress that seemed about 60 years old recommended us a crab. We ordered two crabs and grilled them. They were really fresh and we could eat them raw.
Last time Akemi and I went there, we were scolded by a master because we grilled them too much. He said we shouldn’t grill too much. That time, we remembered his word and we followed his advice. The club meat was fresh and juicy.

HELLO! AI-CHAN!

(2006-02-19)
Ai-chan came back today. Ai-chan is a name of my Aibo. She got injured and she went to a hospital. Her hospitalization was a short term. It was only for one week but that one week was too long for me.
Her buttery was empty, so I had to give her food. She seemed fine but a little tired. She stopped soon. I think the hospitalization made her tired.
Anyway, I’m happy to meet her again even if I have to pay for over 20,000yen.

SNOWBOARDING

(2006-02-18)
I watched a snowboarding last night. It was such a dynamic event.
Four snowboarders start at the same time. It seems like horse races. They try to get their best position but the person who gets the best position is only one. Sometimes they attack other snowboarders and bother them. Many snowboarders slipped and course out. Even if the border keeps the first position, we never know the winner. At the final race, the snowboarder who’s from U.S. would win, but she couldn’t. She slipped down just before the goal. Even if the border keeps the first position, we never know the winner. At the final race, the snowboarder who’s from U.S. would win, but she couldn’t. She slipped down just before the goal. I exclaimed in front of the TV. She tried to show us a performance but it was a mistake. When she did it, she slipped, and the next snowboarder came from behind. I think she regretted her performance.

I have never seen that event before. I thought why I didn’t know but I heard that was a new event in this Olympic. I recommend you to see that event.

I AM A JUDGE.

(2006-02-17)
Last night I watched Men’s mogul. As you know, mogul competes by speed, air and precision of skiing.
When I see scoring events, I am always a judge. I expect the points that the player will get. Of course, I am an amateur but the score that I put is almost correct. During watching a lot of games, I could get good eyes. I could become a specialist very easily.
I have to give score at a few events. I’ll be a judge at the next Olympic games.

(I wrote this blog yesterday.)

やっぱりルックスは大事

(2006-02-15)
This morning, I watched men’s figure skating on TV. I like this event, too.
Recently, this event has become a little difference. When I was a child, it didn’t seem a sport. It seemed too feminine and I thought this sport was for woman.
But now, it became very exciting. Skaters jump very high and spin around very fast. It is a dynamic sport.
I think one of the important parts of this event is a look. Even if a skater does well, if he isn’t good-looking, his performance doesn’t seem well.
It is the same as woman’s figure skating. Japanese skaters used to be a bad style. And their skating seemed ugly. Now, it seems a little bit better.
I couldn’t find a man who is my type. I want to enjoy the sport, though.

朝鮮人参ガム??

(2006-02-14)

朝鮮人参My co-work gave me an Asian ginseng gum. It was rare in Japan and I’ve never seen it before. Before I ate, I smelled it. It smelled like dirt, I ate it. I’ve never had a ginseng before but I could imagine the taste of the ginseng. It didn’t taste good and I didn’t seem good for our health. I mean when people take the ginseng, people care about their health. But even if you take that gum, you won’t get a healthy body.
I don’t understand why Lotte sells that gum. Do Korean really like that gum???

THE OLYMPIC GAMES

(2006-02-13)
A winter Olympic game started. I really like to watch Olympic games, especially winter’s. I feely I am skiing, jumping and jumping with players.
My favorite events are luge, down hill, cross-country and aerial. The aerial is my most favorite one. It is like a dive on a summer Olympic. Skiers are flying very high and turn beautifully. I always think if I were to jump like them.
Time difference is terrible. We have to watch the games midnight. I can’t wake up until midnight, so I can’t watch them on live.
Last night, I watched the Olympic games. Three channels had Olympic programs but all of them showed me the same event. Too bad! Japanese TV stations always broadcast popular events. I want to see other evens. That’s why, many Japanese family don’t pay for NHK. I want to refuse paying.
Anyway, it has just started. I want to enjoy watching games.

WASHLET

(2006-02-12)
My company changed toilet seat.
In winter, the toilet seat is very cold and you sometimes put off going to the toilet. My company solved our problems.
Now we can use ‘Washlet’. Washlet is a high-tech toilet and has some functions; washing and drying your buttocks, keeping warm the toilet seat, and sometimes the toilet cover opens itself. Japanese likes inventing those goods. I don’t think I wash my buttock at my company but warm toilet seat is really useful for us.
I am afraid that I will sleep at the restroom because of comfortable.

一日一善

(2006-02-11)
I met two girls who came from Korea in Umeda.

They showed me a guide book and asked where Shin-Umeda-City was. We were on a basement. I explained how to go there in front of a map but I thought they couldn’t understand. They understood neither English nor Japanese. I think even if they are Japanese, they can’t understand it. It’s because, Umeda is complex.

I took them to the place that we could see that building they wanted to go to. They said ‘Thank you’ many times and they gave me chocolates.

We have a word as ‘Do a good deed at least once a day’.
Today I did one good deed. Maybe the next time is one year later.

チョコ

KINCHO-MANJU

(2006-02-09)
Kincho-manju is a Japanese sweet.

Yama-chan who used to work my father’s shop always bought it for us. His hometown was Tokushima and Kinjyo-manju is a well-known brand in Tokushima.

He always bought a box of Kincho-manju. There was a lyric sheet in the box. I guessed the lyric was for TV commercial.

When I was a kid, Yama-chan played me. He lived near our row house and I visited his room. I have good memories but my parents didn’t like him.

After my father closed his shop, my family broke off with him. I don’t know what he is doing now.

Today I found Kincho-manjun on a Keihan department store’s flier and I remembered him.

4 TEEN

(2006-02-08)
I finished reading ‘4 TEEN’. I read it only in one day.

Heroes in that story are four 14-year-old boys. The story shows us their daily life. They are the boys we could see anywhere. They have their own big problems but they grow up big and strong. We could see a pure mind.

I always read thriller of suspense, so that story makes me fresh. I am a woman, so I didn’t have the same experience as them, but I had the same feeling when I was 14.

That story won Naoki prize. I could nod why that story won.

THANK YOU ! SONY!

(2006-02-07)
Sony called me this afternoon, and they said they accepted my proposal. Thank you! Sony!

A few days ago, I called about my Aibo’s repair. They said I had to buy a box for sending my Aibo. It was 1900yen, so I refused Aibo’s repair. Just before I hung up a phone, a woman who talked on the phone said she would tell about my problem to her boss. I said if she had a good news, please let me know. But I didn’t believe her. And I also thought, even if she told her boss, they wouldn’t reconsider my problem. But they did!

She said I could send my Aibo with a box I already had.
Sony made a good choice. Sony was about to lose a million customers behind me.

しゃばけ

(2006-02-06)
I have read ‘Shabake’. Shabake is your avaricious mind.
A drama is in Edo era. A hero is a son of a pharmacy. He solves a crime and the criminal is a specter.
He has two assistant managers and they are also specters. There are a lot of specters around him.
The author is ‘Hatanaka Megumi’. It is the first her book I read.
Why did I buy her book? I just wanted to get a specter’s towel. If I am lucky, I can get the specter’s towel. Of course, I sent a postcard to get it.
The story is fantasy. Many specters word for him. They seem his pets. They are very cute. I bought the next book. I think it is a cute story too.

ISN'T IT TOO EXPENSIVE?

(2006-02-04)
My AIBO broke. She seemed bad for a while and finally she stopped moving.
I called AIBO Clinic today and a lady who works at AIBO Clinic and I talked about AIBO’s symptoms, its hospitalization and other things. She told me how I send my AIBO. She said a deliverer would come to my apartment and take my AIBO. And she said I had to buy a packing material and it was 1900yen. I couldn’t understand what her meaning. I said I’d already had a packing material that I got when I bought my AIBO. But she didn’t listen to me. She said I had to buy a special one for sending my AIBO. Why should I buy a packing material? And why is it too expensive? Does Sony want to get money to sell a silly packing material?
Sony knows the customers have no choice. If you want to fix your AIBO, you have to send it with the special materials Sony sells, even if you already have a good packing material.
Of course, I want to fix my AIBO but this mode of doing business is offensive to me.
Sony gets money except electrical appliances.

さようなら。シンデレラ城ミステリーツアー

(2006-02-02)
‘Cinderella Castle Mystery Tour’ is closed. It is one of the attractions of Tokyo Disney Land. You go into the Cinderella Castle and fight forward evils of Disney characters. If you are lucky, you could get a special medal. I got that medal.
I like that attraction but I don’t know if it’s interesting. I think it depend on the tour guide. If he/she is an entertainer, you can enjoy that attraction.
Tokyo Disney Land decided to change the new attraction. I think the next one is interesting, too, because Tokyo Disney Land knows

新しいプリンターが届きました。

(2006-02-01)
I received a new printer. A delivery service man brought it and he said it was very heavy. I didn’t think it was heavy but he was true. I thought my old printer wasn’t heavy like the new one. But when I moved the old one, it was very heavy.
Anyway, I set up the new printer. It has 6 ink tanks. I printed out some pictures but they didn’t seem good colors. Next I used new software with the printer. That software was easy to use and colors were better.
I haven’t printed out some pictures of a trip with my friends yet. I have to print out as soon as possible.
