TRIP TO TAIPEI -the hotel-

(2008-10-31)
The hotel we stayed at is Keyman Hotel(懐寧).
That hotel was really convenient.
The fee is about 7500yen per night.
So, if you stay there for one person, it is kind of expensive.
But if you stay there for more than two persons, it is cheap enough.
The breakfast is for free.

The special mention is that it is close to the Taipei Station.
You can go anywhere from the Taipei Station, so the hotel close to the Taipei Station is really convenient.
The airport bus stop is just in front of the hotel.
It is also its good point.

The bad thing is that they can’t speak English.
I knew they can’t speak Japanese, but the Internet said they could speak English.
We needed a lot of time to tell them what we wanted to do.
But I think it was a good memory for us.

(2008-10-30)
081013nightmarket-1-

We went to 士林 night market. It is the biggest night market in Taiwan.
There were many food stools and cloth shops.
They were really cheap!!!
We didn’t bring enough money there because we worried if there were some pickpockets there.
Our decision wasn’t wrong.
If we brought lots of money, we would probably spend lots of money….

The night market was too big, so I got tired soon.
We ate a couple of foods and left quickly.

TRIP TO TAIPEI 2008/10/13 -4-

(2008-10-29)
The tour guide said some movies had been shot there but I don’t know those movies.
Only one movie that I know is ‘Sento Chihirono Kamikakushi’.
There was a house, which was a model of the house on that movie.

081013jufen-4-

Our tour was ended. We went back to the hotel afterwards. It was about 5:30P.M.

We took a break a little, and we went to see a night market afterwards.
There are many night markets in Taiwan.
I don’t know why night markets have developed in Taiwan.
If you know, please tell me.

TRIP TO TAIPEI 2008/10/13 -3-

(2008-10-28)
We stopped at Jyufen old town afterwards.

I forgot to tell you.081013jufen-1-

We wanted to take a one-day-tour to Jyufen.
The one-day-tour bring us to many famous sightseeing spots.
I wanted to visit Jyufe Waterfalls, the Golden Museum, and so on…
But it was Monday, and the Golden Museum closes on every Monday, so the tourist didn’t offer the Monday tour.
That’s why we reserved a half-day-tour.
But I think it was a big mistake.
I could go to Jyufen by myself.

Anyway, we stopped at Jyufen old town.
There were many many tourists there.
There was a shopping street and we looked around shops.
We could see many delicious foods. We tasted a lot. All of them were really delicious.
I wanted to buy some, but I didn’t have cash…

I think if I settle in Taipei, I will get a lot of weights.

THIS SWEETS IS VERY VERY GOOD!!!

TRIP TO TAIPEI 2008/10/13 -2-

(2008-10-27)
We went back to the Taipei Station, ate lunch near the hotel, and went back to the hotel.

081013lunch

That day’s plan was to go to Jyufen(九イ分) by tour bus.

A tour guide picked us up at 1:00P.M.
He could speak Japanese but it was hard for us to understand what he said.

He picked up 2 more Japanese, 1 British, and 2 American.
The tour bus ran for about an hour.
The tour bus stopped at the Northeast coast.
There were several strange shaped rocks there.
They seemed heavy and hard. I think a lot of ores are included in the rocks.

TRIP TO TAIPEI 2008/10/13 -1-

(2008-10-26)
081013.101-1-

We visited 101 in the morning.
It is the highest building in the world.
There is an observation deck on the 89th floor.
The view from the building was not so special. But I really like the view from there.
I’d already stayed there for a couple of days, so we pointed some buildings and talked about them.

081013.101-2-

081013.101-4-

I bought a dictionary at 101.
I wanted to buy an English-Chinese dictionary.
That shop was really big, so one clerk brought me to the dictionary part.
The dictionary was a little heavy but very convenient.

We went to a basement to eat lunch but we couldn’t find anything that we wanted to eat.
In addition, I was still full because I had eaten too much for breakfast.

We bought some souvenirs at the basement.
I bought some pineapple cakes. Tsuru-chan also bought some cakes.
A clerk was really polite.
When Tsuru-chan said she wanted to try a brown sugar cake, she opened a new box and cut one piece. The brown sugar cake was also tasty.
I love both cakes.
But they were too heavy to bring back to Japan….

WHAT'S THIS???

PEOPLE IN TAIWAN

(2008-10-25)
PEOPLE
I have to write about the people in Taiwan.
I think they are the most polite people in the world.

You probably cannot understand how polite they are until you visit Taiwan.
And you probably cannot understand how polite they are if you visit with a group tour company.
Because Tsuru-chan couldn’t believe me before she touched Taiwan people.

When I say ‘Taiwan people are very polite’, people say it is because they are still appreciate that Japanese built many schools or something.

I know the reason is not true.

Before I visited Taiwan, I read a book about ‘Taiwanese and Japanese’.
Taiwanese in the book were taken discrimination under the Japanese rule.
I'm not a wonder if they bear a grudge against Japanese people.

I think the reason that they are polite is only their spirits.
I mean, it is normal for them.
Tsuru-chan said, "If they visited Japan, they will be probably really surprise because Japanese aren’t polite like them."

This time, I don’t tell you how polite they are.
If you want to know, you should visit Taiwan.

TRIP TO TAIPEI 2008/10/12 -4-

(2008-10-24)
We went to see Arashi Concert.
This is the reason that Tsuru-chan came to Taiwan.
I came there as an interpreter. Of course, my Chinese is too poor, so I used English all the time…

I have nothing to say about the show.
I could see cute Japanese idles. It was really exciting.
I waved my hands and danced with the music.
The concert hall wasn’t too big, so we could see them very close.

When I went back to the hotel, Tsuru-chan had already arrived.
We made a reservation for the next day sightseeing trip and left the hotel.

I visited several famous sightseeing spots.
They were really big and beautiful. Taiwan isn’t a big country, but they have many comfortable places.

We went to the longshan temple(龍山寺), afterwards.
When we looked at a map on the street, a boy and his mother asked us where we would want to go.
We were walking on the wrong street, so it relieved us.

The longshan was amazing!!!

You know, Japanese temples on the guidebook are for tourists, but this longshan temple is for believers.
I felt sorry because the reason that I visited was like visiting the Golden Temple.

Afterwards, I ate ramen on the street.
There was a night market near the longshan temple.
The Ramen was really cheap and delicious.
They also sold very curious things.
Looking around the market was really exciting.

TRIP TO TAIPEI 2008/10/12 -2-

(2008-10-22)
081012GLASS1

I got off the boat at Guandu(関渡).
I knew the subway station was close to there, but I couldn’t find the station.
I found rails of the train, so I walked along the rails.
Finally, I found the station. That wasn’t the station which I wanted to go, but I think it was OK.

I got on the subway and got off at the next station.
I didn’t have a map, but I heard there was a map at the station.

Yes!
There was a map.
But the map just has been renewal, and I couldn’t see a map.

I couldn’t find a glass museum…
I asked a woman where the glass museum was.
She didn’t know either but she asked another guy and brought me to the glass museum.

The glasses were very beautiful.
Please look at the pictures of them.
I wanted to buy one but they were too expensive for me.

I ate lunch there. It was a delivery service. I ate ramen. The taste was OK.

The interesting thing was that table for lunch and for making glass were the same.
You can try making a glass cup or a glass plate there.
The table is for it, but Taiwanese don’t care if you use the table for eating.

TRIP TO TAIWAN 2008/10/12 -1-

(2008-10-21)
2008/10/12
I visited a glass museum.
The museum was located at the north of the Taipei Station.
I heard I could go there by boat, so I tried to take it.
When I arrived at the wharf, I had an hour until the boat left.
I didn’t have TW$, so I went to change the money.
But it was Sunday. I couldn’t exchange…

I sat down riverside and looked at the river.
It was a fine day.
A mild wind was blowing.
It was really comfortable.

I bought a ship ticket.
A man who sold a ticket said something.
Amazingly, I could understand what he said.
I think I was really smart.

The trip was very comfortable.
I looked at the riverside. It was nothing special but I could see a raw Taiwan.
Many passengers were seated on the head of boat.
I was really surprised.
If it were in Japan, the boat company would never allow us to sit down on the head of the boat.

There was a bird sanctuary along the river, so I could see many birds.
I saw big big fruits on trees.

But they weren’t fruits. They were birds, which were standing on trees.

TRIP TO TAIWAN 2008/10/11 -6-

(2008-10-20)
The show was about 30 minutes.
After the show, they taught us how to use the dolls.
It was more difficult than I thought.
They told me how to run, how to turn around and how to bend with a back.

If I have a chance, I will teach you.

Afterward, we could take a photo with those cute dolls.
Luckily, they lent me the cutest one.
I mean they had two types of T.V. show dolls.
One type is for customers, and you can touch and use them.
The other one is for the show. You cannot usually use them.
But they lent me the dolls for the show.

Before the show started, I told the master that I was a big fan of the puppet show and I had seen the move in Japan.
I think that’s why they lent me the cute one.

After the show, I was still in the dream.
I went to the bed with the dream.

This is the reason that I visited Taiwan earlier than my friend.
Since I visited Taiwan last time, I have been in a puppet show.

When I arrived there, there was no customer there.
I talked to a master of that shop, and ordered a couple of meals.

081011PUPPET3

081011PUPPET4

Some people visited there afterwards.
One group was Japanese women.
They were really noisy as usual.

The puppet show was exciting.
I couldn’t understand Chinese, but a story was simple, so even if I couldn’t understand Chinese, I could enjoy that show.

By the way, there are a couple of types of dolls.
They are the traditional one and the dolls for T.V.
My favorite one is T.V. dolls.
They are really cute and handsome.

TRIP TO TAIWAN 2008/10/11 -4-

(2008-10-18)
At 侯硐, I visited a Japanese shrine. I found it on the Internet. It hadn't been included in my plan, but I had time to go, so I tried to go there.

There was no tourist at the station.

I looked at a map at the station and went toward the shrine.
It was really hard to find.
A boy told me the place of the shrine when I was looking for it.
There was no shrine there. Only the gate has been still standing.
But the gate was very virile.

The retune trip was very tough.
I had to take a train about one and half hours, but there was no seat.
It was the long long trip.

After I came back to the Taipei Station, I went to see a puppet show.

TRIP TO TAIWAN 2008/10/11 -3-

(2008-10-17)
I looked around Shifen, afterwards.
Shifen is about 30 minutes from Jington by train.

There are very famous waterfalls there; it was called ‘TAIWAN Niagara Falls’.

The location was really complex. I followed other tourists, but they also lost a way.

Anyway, I saw a map and walked along a river.

I walked across a suspension bridge, passed through other waterfalls and walked along a train rail.

Finally, I arrived at the Shifen Waterfalls.
But something strange…..
A shutter was closed, and there was a paper on the shutter.
It said that the company, which owned the waterfalls sightseeing, made an illegal something.
(I'm sorry. I couldn't read that completely because it was written in Chinese.)

It meant I wouldn’t be able to see the waterfalls!!!

I’ve never heard such a silly case. I could hear the sound of waterfalls but I couldn’t see it!!

I peeped the waterfalls through a fence.
I felt I was like a criminal.

I looked at an old town there, went back to the station, and got off at 侯硐(Sorry, I can’t read this).

TRIP TO TAIWAN 2008/10/11 -2-

(2008-10-16)
At the prince house, I met an old lady who could speak Japanese.
She was really kind and cute.

She said welcome to Taiwan, and she praised my hair was beautiful.

At the prince house, I had tea and a cake. They were included in an entrance fee.
The entrance fee was TW$100. It was about 350 Japanese yen.

When I went back to the station, a train has just left.
I had to wait 1 hour.

There was a hill, so I decided to go up there.

There was a ruin of coal mining.
It was like a ghost town.
I felt I could see people who were working.
I think when the people worked, it was under the Japan politics.
I knew many people had died there. I felt really sorry.

TRIP TO TAIWAN 2008/10/11 -1-

(2008-10-15)
2008/10/11

I woke up really early.
That day’s plan was to see an old town in Shifen(十イ分).

From Taipe to Rueifan was about 1 hour by train.
The train was crowded. Almost all of them were tourists but I couldn’t see any foreign people.

I exchanged the train at Rueifan Station(瑞芳駅)to Pngsi Line(平渓線).
I bought a ‘one-day-pass’ there.

This ticket is really convenient.
You can get on the train anytime on that day.

Any tourist bought that ticket.
A train comes only once an hour.
While some people bought the one-day-pass, the train had gone.
They had to wait for the next train.

Luckily, I could take a train.

I got off the train at the Jington Station(青桐駅).

I wanted to visit a house for Japanese Prince.
The house was built when Taiwan was a colony of Japan.
That was built for Japanese Prince but the Prince had never visited there.
It is pity.

That was the start of my exciting trip.

When I arrived at the Taipei Airport, it was about 10P.M.
My baggage didn’t come out soon, so when I arrived at the hotel, it was over 12:00.

SANMANMA

(2008-10-09)
Hokkaido fair season has come.

Many department stores have held the Hokkaido Fair.

I went to Keihan department store twice.
I ate ramen on last Saturday and bought several Hokkaido foods.
I usually buy sanma for sanma-donburi. It is very convenient and delicious. I bought two sanma.

I went there on Tuesday again.
I looked for sanma-donburi but it had already been sold out.
I went to buy lunch box for dinner.
At Hokkaido fair, there are many kinds of seafood lunch boxes.
I looked around there, but I couldn’t decide which one I would buy.

Finally, I bought Sanmanma.
I usually wanted to buy it, but it is very popular and many customer wait to buy, so I couldn’t buy it.
This time, no one was there, so I could buy it soon.

It was juicy and fresh. The rice is ‘mochi-gome’. I really like mochi-gome.
I could understand why people always line up.

LUNCH BOX

(2008-10-08)
The laboratory of our company will close soon.
And the cafeteria at laboratory has already closed.

I can order lunch box if I want.

This is a lunch box.
It is only 380yen.
Very cheap!!!
And the taste wasn’t so bad.

I’m disappointed that I can eat it only two months.

THE THIRD MANNER LESSON

(2008-10-07)
Yesterday’s manner lesson was about how to use ‘zabuton’.
We practiced several times.

There are many ways to sit down on zabuton.
I couldn’t remember all of them.

First, I stood behind a zabuton, and then sat down.
Next, I got off a zabuton and sat on the left side of a zabuton.
And sat down on a zabuton again.

Next, I sat down behind the zabuton and sat down on zabuton again.
Finally, I stood up behind the zabuton.

After practicing this processes, I taught them to another student.
It was too difficult, but I could remember.

I practiced this at my apartment afterwards.
I’ve already forgotten a couple of processes.
But I know I will have a chance to show you, and if you want, I will teach you!!!

NEW MEMO PADS

(2008-10-05)
I sometimes think I'm clever.
The time when I feel like that is when I bright up a good idea.

Yesterday I went to buy a memo pad.

I wanted to buy a cute one, like Snoopy or Micky, but I couldn't find it.

I bought a simple one.
It was cheap but I didn't feel I wanted to use it.

Then, my brain started to work hard.

Please look at thses memo pads.
Aren't they cute??

I stuck greeting cards on the cover of the memo pads.

Nobody has the same one!!

Don't you think I'm clever???

DO YOU WANT TO SEE THAT?

(2008-10-03)
I read an interesting article.

At Gardena City in U.S., people argued about to wear pants.

Many young people wear pants at a low point of their hips.
We can see their underwear.
Some people think it is really disgraceful.

The city argued to make a local law, but one of committees opposed.

This argument has still continued.

A writer said, “The other day, I saw a middle-aged man who was riding a bike.
He was stripped of a waist. He had a plump stomach and abundance of chest hair.
I’ve never heard someone complain about it.”

I really like this article. I can see this middle-aged man.

MY BIRTHDAY

(2008-10-02)

He said, "Isn't your birthday today?"

HOW TO COOK BOILD EGGS

(2008-10-01)
Can you make a boiled egg well?

I can’t.
I sometimes cook it well, but I can’t make it well often.
It’s sometimes too hard or too soft.
I know if I use a timer, I can cook it well.
But since a battery ran out, I haven’t used a timer.

The worst case is that I cannot remove eggshell well.
When eggshell remove, white egg takes off together.
I think I lose about 20% of white egg.

A few days ago, I watched T.V, Mega-ten’, and it said when you couldn't remove eggshell well, it is because that egg was fresh.

According to that T.V. show, a white egg changes in quality, and it affects removing eggshell.

Boiled egg makers use eggs, which keep in a fridge for 1 week.

I always buy eggs after I use all eggs.
But I want to buy them before I use all eggs.
