OBAMA -1-

(2008-11-30)
Ito-chan, Mike-san and I went to Obama City on 22nd November.

Luckily, it wasn’t cold, so we spent a really good time.

We left Osaka at 9:30A.M. We went there by bus because bus is cheaper than train.
The road to Obama was very crowded. I have completely forgotten that the day was the first day of three-day holiday.

We arrived at Obama around 12:30. Just after we arrived there we ate lunch.
I ate seafood miso soup and mackerel sushi. The restaurant is for tourists, but the taste wasn’t so bad. We also had local, turban shells and a crab.

After we ate lunch, we looked around a souvenir shop.
We could see many many delicious foods. If I wasn’t full, I probably would buy so many foods.
We spent for one hour at the souvenir shop, but we haven’t spent much money. We are bad customers.

KATSURA RIKYU

(2008-11-21)
I went to Katsura-rikyu again on November 20th.
It was a really cold but fine day.
I wanted to see beautiful autumn color, but they weren’t much beautiful than I expected.
But the contrast of red leaves and blue sky was very beautiful.
I have nothing to say. Please look at pictures.

A MANNER LESSON

(2008-11-19)
I went to a manner class again.
I learned several manners. I’ve already learned them but I forget soon, so I have to practice several times.

This time I poured Japanese tea.
It was my second try but still difficult.
My teacher was surprised that I was more ladylike than she thought.
I talked about it to Swimmer, so he was laughing and said she didn’t prize me.
He meant that if I was really ladylike, she didn’t say like that.
Anyway, I felt really well.

One of my funs at the lessons is Japanese sweets.
After the lesson, we always eat Japanese sweets.
Sweets always make happy and eating with schoolmates makes me happy, too.

The next class is the last one.
But now, I’m considering continuing the lesson…

UZU

(2008-11-18)
As I always say, the laboratory will close soon.
It means I won’t go to Kuzuha Station anymore, so I have to visit several places until then.

Yesterday, I went to an Italian restaurant, Uzu.
I didn’t know that was an Italian restaurant. I thought it was a café.
Since I saw an apple pie there, I really wanted to eat it.
Luckily, I had a chance to go there yesterday.

It was lunchtime, so I ordered pasta and apple pie.

The taste of apple pie didn’t make me disappointed.
It was really good.
The size was big enough and its taste was sweet enough.
Ice cream was on the apple pie. They bake apple pie after we order, so a hot apple pie and a cold ice cream makes my mouth satisfied.

I’m really happy to eat that apple pie.

I have only a few chances to go to Kuzuha, so I have to make a plan to visit some cafés and restaurants.

12000yen lunch

(2008-11-17)
I had an extra manner lesson yesterday.
We had lunch at a Japanese restaurant, Shien, close to Umeda.

Before the lesson, I was a little afraid if the teacher was too strict, but she wasn’t.
She lectured a little and we could eat delicious lunch.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t take all of pictures of foods.
I don’t know who said that, I think probably the teacher of the restaurant, but someone banned to take pictures.

I said ‘delicious food’, and they were delicious, but they weren’t special. I couldn’t see enough creation of meals.
I always think cooking Japanese food is very difficult. Japanese meals are kinds of simple but its taste is infinity.

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

(2008-11-16)
から騒ぎ

I went to see ‘Much Ado about Nothing’ written by Shakespeare.

Shakespeare wrote many dramas, and I think we can classify into two large groups, tragedy and comedy.

His tragedy is more famous than comedy but I prefer comedy. My favorite one is ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and I saw it several times.

The play this time I saw was acted by males. I mean all actors are males.
At the age of Shakespeare I heard there was no actress.
This play followed that style.

Two young men fell in love to two ladies.

The story is really simple but funny. I laughed many times.
Young ladies are really cute. They don’t seem males. If I were a young man, I would love them.

I have a LD of ‘Much Ado about Nothing’.
I want to see it one afterwards.

OBAMA CITY

(2008-11-13)
My sister and brother-in-law come to Japan soon. I’m really happy to hear that.

We are planning to go to Obama city in Fukui Prefecture.
When I heard that plan, I was really surprised.
Obama city is very popular place. and if you live in Kansai area, you probably know Obama.
But Obama city became famous when the president primary election.
Obama city was on T.V. everyday and I felt ‘it was Japanese’.

But Japanese people forget anything soon, and I also forgot about Obama city.

This time, I heard that my brother-in-law said that he wanted to visit there,
and I remembered about Obama city.
I think it is a good memory in our lives.
I want to buy many Obama goods, and of course, I want to eat delicious seafood.

TAKE CARE

(2008-11-11)
As I said Swimmer and I went to a French restaurant.
The restaurant is about 1 kilometer from the Kuzuha Station.

When we went back to the Kuzuha Station, we found a very big pie.
It seemed very delicious.
I really want to eat it.

Lately, my stomach is really busy.
I have to go to Fujiya to eat pancake.
I have to go to Kyoto and eat delicious Japanese food.
I have to go to Italian close to my office.
And the end of year parties come soon.

I have to take care of my stomach.

CHEF TSUSHIMA

(2008-11-10)
Swimmer and I went to a French restaurant, Chef Tsushima, close to the Kuzuha Station.

We can see that restaurant from a bus when we go to the laboratory.
As I always say our laboratory is going to close soon, so we decided to go there before the laboratory closes.

There was no one in the restaurant.
We remembered that the time when we went to a pancake café.
When we went to the pancake café, there was also no one in the café. And now, that café went to somewhere. I mean the cafe was closed.
That’s why we were really worried about the Chef Tsushima’s future.
If the Chef Tsushima closes soon, it will be our fault.

The appetizer, Sanma and onion marinade, was really good, but other meals were not special.
The fourth picture, a duck, was a little tough.
My favorite one was a dessert but I don’t know if they feel happy when they hear the best meal is a dessert.

Swimmer ate all of them, rice and my bread. I feel happy that he is able to eat such a big meal.

RED CLIFF

(2008-11-09)
I went to see Red Cliff.
The original story is the Three Kingdom Saga.
This story is very long, and Red Cliff is only one part of the Three Kingdom Saga.
The war of Red Cliff is the most exciting story in the Three Kingdom Saga because 50thousands soldiers fought against 800thousands soldiers and won.

The set of the movie is magnificent.
It doesn’t seem a movie set, but they built a castle for the movie.
The screen is full of soldiers, and I can expect the war was fierce by the screen.

The reasons I went to see it are, (1) I’ve read the Three Kingdom Saga but I’ve already forgotten the story and, (2) I want to listen to Chinese.

I couldn’t catch what they said, but it was a good practice for me.

Tony Leung acted Shuyu. He was a little different from my image. But it is too difficult to choose an actor who act Shuyu or other characters because this story is very famous and hundreds readers have hundreds images of those characters.

The Red Cliff I saw today is the part I.
Of course, I will go to see the part II.
When I see it, my Chinese skill will be better, I think.

月居

Did you see the poster of Donburi? If you live along the Keihan line, you may probably have seen it several times. That poster introduces us to some restaurants which have special Donburi in Gion area.
Since I saw that poster, I always thought I would visit someday.

Today I had a chance to go to Kyoto, so I visited one of them.
The restaurant where I visited is Chinese one. I saw a beautiful Donburi on the poster, so I visited there.

Their special Donburi is a horse crab Donburi.
Please look at the picture. It is Fu rong xie(my dictionary says it is ‘sauteed crabs and scrambled egg in soup) Donburi. It was really tasty. The smell of crab was perfect.
I can’t tell you how delicious it is.
But what I want to tell you most is their service.
Before I went, I was a little worried because the restaurant was in Gion area, and Gion area isn’t a normal place in Japan.
I mean the restaurants in Gion are not the restaurants which I can go to.
But I was wrong.
Cooks and waitresses were very friendly.
I went there alone but I didn’t feel I was alone.

My stomach and heart were satisfied.
I am not sure if I have a chance to go there one more time, but I want to make a chance to go.

MAKING JAPANESE SWEETS

(2008-11-06)
A few weeks ago, Tsuru-chan and I went to see KinKi Kids concert in Sabae. After we saw it, we went to Kanazawa and stayed a night.

Tsuru-chan and I have visited Kanazawa so many times, so we thought our visit would be boring…

But our visit was really exciting.

This time we made Japanese sweets.
You can try to make Japanese sweets close to Kenrokuen.
They give you colored anko. You only shape them.

These are my works. They are a little ugly but the taste was really good.
If you have a chance to go to Kanazawa, you should try it!!!

SUENO-SATO

(2008-11-05)
081102-1-
There are many pottery manufacture industries, Tanba-yaki, close to The Museum of Ceramic Art, Hyogo.
We wanted to visit some of them after lunch, but we didn’t have enough time.

‘Sueno-sato’ is a souvenir shop. They sell any Tanba-yaki potteries, so we visited there.
The color of Tanba-yaki is dark, and its shape is rough.
We saw so many Tanba-yaki, but all of them seemed the same pottery even if they were made by different manufacture industries.

Before I went there, I was afraid that I would buy many potteries, but I didn’t buy anything.
I thought I preferred European ceramics to Tanba-yaki.
After visited there, I felt I missed European ceramics…

Al Museo Akane

(2008-11-04)
When we visited The museum of Ceramic Art, Hyogo, we had lunch there.

They have a good restaurant. I have thought we could eat there anytime. But when we arrived there, there was no seat.

We looked at the exhibits first even if it was 12 O’clock and we were really hungry.

We could take lunch around 3:00P.M.

These are the pictures which we ate.
The lunch was a little salty but OK.

THE HISTORY OF WEDWOOD FOR 250 YEARS

(2008-11-03)
081102WEDGWOOD-1-
I went to see 'the History of Wedgwood for 250 Years' at The Museum of Ceramic Art, Hyogo.

As you probably know, Wedgwood is one of the most famous ceramic makers in the world.

We could see their old style and latest ceramics. There is the big difference between them. The old one is very delicate and the latest one is like a modern art. I felt sorry that they haven't lasted their original style, but I know if they haven’t changed their style, they would have to close their history.
And I also know they haven’t already had a technique they used to have.

The museum is really far. I had to take a train for one hour from the Kyobashi Station and bus for 15 minutes. It was like a trip.
I went there with my friend, and I expected that there would be no one except us.
But lots of people visited there. I was very surprised.

After we saw this exhibit, we saw some Wedgwood ceramics at a souvenir shop.
They were reasonable prices, but they seemed very cheap. I thought we had gotten the sight, which I could know a good one and a bad one.

Anyway their works were fantastic.
But I thought I prepared Meissen…

TRIP TO TAIWAN 2008/10/14

(2008-11-01)
081014機内食
We woke up at 4:15A.M.
We left the hotel around 4:45A.M. and got on an airport bus.
We checked in flights and left Taipei.

The departure time of my plane was 7:20A.M. and Tsuru-chan’s one was 8:00A.M.
We bought some souvenirs at the airport. I used all of cash at the airport.
The airport was bigger and more modern than I thought. There were many brand-named shops at the airport, but I'm not interested in brand-named goods, so I didn't buy anything.

I said good-bye to Tsuru-chan, and got on the plane.
I was really sleepy, so I didn’t know when the plane had left.

When I arrived at Osaka, it was raining.
I got back to my apartment.
The biggest souvenir for me was lot of laundry.

This is the end of my trip.

I want to say thank you all the people I met in Taiwan; especially a woman at the Prince House, a boy at the Japanese shrine, a woman at the glass museum, a boy and his mother at the longshan temple, and of course Tsuru-chan.
I really want to visit as soon as possible.
