These are dishes which we ate.
All of them were really delicious, especially vegetables!!
They were fresh and tasty!

sea urchin pasta is the first taste in my life.
It was a little thick but the the amount of the pasta wasn't too much, so I could eat it before I felt boring.

Fish was also good. The surface was crispy and soup was tasty.
I'm sorry!
I cannot tell you well!

Please go there, and feel that taste by yourselves!

RISTORANTE GIARDINO GAMO

(2009-05-30)
Swimmer and I went to an Italian restaurant, Ristorante Giardino Gamo.
The location of the restaurant isn’t convenient but many customers visited that restaurant.

It was opened about one year ago.
An owner of the restaurant remodeled an old Japanese house to the restaurant.

It is a really beautiful restaurant.
My pictures aren’t so good, so pleas check out the web site.

Swimmer found this restaurant on a program book for fine food lovers.
Its catchphrase is Jyoutou no Jyoutou(城東の上等).
It is typical Osaka style catchphrase.

The catchphrase is terrible but it is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to.

The Man

(2009-05-27)
090527-01

As I said I saw ‘The Man(sono-otoko) at Shin-Kabukiza.

The original story was written by Ikenami Shotaro and a stage director is Lasalle Ishii.
I saw Lasalle Ishii’s play once before and it was a good stage, so I wanted to see ‘The Man’.

The story is about a man, Toranosuke, who lived from the end of Edo era to Taisho.
When he was a boy, he was suicidal, but a man, a Master, saved him.
He said to Toranosuke, “You are not the same boy as before you suicide.

Tranosuke became a young man.
At that time, Japan was a crumbling.
Any men worked for their beliefs but only Tranosuke had to live for his happiness because it was his Master’s wish.
But when his wife was killed, he changed his mind and went to Kyoto to change Japan.

The last part of this play, Toranosuke met a man who had killed his Master.
He tried to kill him but he couldn’t, because he knew it was silly to kill him.
When his Master died, he didn’t tell the name of killer. He didn’t want Toranosuke to kill someone for him.

The stage set was really beautiful.
Mr. Ishis didn’t use so many sets, but he used them effectively.

The play was a little long, but I wasn’t bored.
He is one of my favorite produces.

SHIN-KABUKIZA

(2009-05-26)
090526-1
Shin-Kabukiza will be closed in a month.

It was built in 1958, so it is 51 years old.
Shin-Kabukiza and Yan-bo, Ma-bo are the same age!!!

Anyway, I went to see ‘Sono-Otoko’ last Saturday to Shin-Kabukiza.

Last time when I went there was about 20 years ago.
I think it have to be rebuilt because it seems really old…
Even I can feel a long history, though.

They sold some goods of Shin-Kabukiza. They are typical Japanese type of goods.
I wanted to buy something, but they were a little expensive, so I didn’t buy.

I didn’t feel sad, but I think some people who visited there often might feel sad.

The new Shin-Kabukiza will be built at Uehommachi.
I like something new, so I want to visit there once.

But I have to correct points of Donuts, and I don’t eat Donuts….

I’m really sad…

Gaspard ZinZin

(2009-05-21)

We went to eat lunch at 2:30P.M.
We went to Gaspard ZinZin.
CW-chan said she had eaten a grapefruit pudding of this restaurant before and she had never forgotten the taste of the pudding.

She called the restaurant when we were at the Imperial Garden and they said they still had some seats at 2:30P.M.

Please look at the menu.
Of course, I ordered ‘Confit of Chicken with Grain mustard’.
The taste was really simple but the smell of chicken was really good.

1. Green peas soup
2. Carrot and potato salad
3. tomato risotto
4. Main dish
5. Espresso or tea
6. Grapefruit pudding.

This grapefruit pudding was really strange.
Its taste is completely pudding but you can smell and your tongue feels grapefruit taste.

When I finished until the main dish, I didn’t think my stomach wasn’t satisfied.
But after the dessert, my stomach said, “I can’t eat anymore!!!”.

A CUTE CUP

(2009-05-20)
We stopped at a couple of shops, afterwards.
Three was a cute bazaar near the Karasuma-Oike Station.
They sold really cute goods; cute cups, cute cushions, cute pajamas, cute bags, etc.
My friend was really surprised because they sold bath salts by weight.

I wanted to buy a couple of stuff but only I bought a glass.
The glass said that if I drank Calpis with the glass, its taste might be better.

AOI MATSURI FESTIVAL -SHU SUI TEI

(2009-05-19)
After the festival, we had about three hours until lunch.
We didn't have to do anything, so looked around Imperial Garden.

We visited Shu Sui Tei.
***************************************************

SHU SUI TEI
This house is a tea ceremony room of the Kujo Family, an aristocrat, and was built about 200 years ago.

In those days, the room was used for a tea ceremony to entertain guests or for a poem making party of Waka.
Waka; 31 syllables Japanese traditional short poem.

At that time, the house was much larger, about 12,500m2 but was pulled down afterward and lonly room with garden was left.

At present, Ministry of the Environment is taking care of this house as a prt of the National Garden.

****************************************************

The entrance fee is only 100yen.
It is a really beautiful house. You can see grand pillars and the view from the room was beautiful.
The weather was really fine, so I wanted to take a nap on tatami mats.

AOI MATSUR FESTIVAL -2-

(2009-05-18)
These are the pictures of parade.
the costumes were really colorful and beautiful.

A man explained about the meanings of the costumes and colors, I couldn't remember, however.

So, I bought a book of Aoi Matsuri Festival.

I will study about Aoi Matsuri Festival more and more, and want to enjoy next year.too.

AOI MATSURI FESTIVAL -1-

(2009-05-17)
On May 15th, I took a day off and went to see Aoi Matsuri festival with CW-chan.
When I woke up, the weather was not so good, but afterwards, it had been getting better and better.

Aoi Matsuri is one of the three big festivals in Kyoto and I wanted to see it.

Aoi Matsuri was more exciting than I thought.
Even some horses, men, and women were walking.

This expository writing is from a booklet of Aoi Matsuri.

The festival is of remote origin.
During the reign of the Emperor Kinmei (the 6th century), people suffered from terrible storms that raged throughout the country. After the Emperor made a diviner practice divination, he found that the deities of Kamo shrines had been angry at people's ingratitude and impiety and that caused the disaster.
So the Emperor sent his messenger to the shrines to pay homage to the dities and performed the solemn rites at the shrines.
Then the deities were pacified and the storms calmed down.
People were able to reap bountiful harvests.

Since then the custom was handed down from generation to generation to the Heian Period, when the fete came to attain its present magnificence and color.

50 years old

(2009-05-13)
Yan-bo and Ma-bo are the mascots of YANMAR.
Before that, YANMAR is a maker of heavy machines.

Yan-bo and Ma-bo are very popular in Japan.
Anyone knows their weather forecast, even people don’t know YANMAR.

According to Asahi Newspaper today, June 1st is the 50-year anniversary of Yan -bo and Ma-bo.
I didn’t know they were older than I…
They seem still really young like Sazae-san family.

Lately, I don’t see their weather forecast. I don’t know why.

If you want to meet them, please check the web site.

Swimmer and I went to dinner last night.
The restaurant, ‘Wine-ya’, is located close to our office.

When we went to eat Sushi a couple of months ago, we found that restaurant.

There are only 7 seats in the restaurant.
As the name of the restaurant, their specialty is wine, but we don’t usually drink alcohol, so I felt a little sorry about it.

We didn’t know what we would eat.
So we ordered a course menu.

They have fresh and local vegetables.
Some of vegetables were the ones which I had never heard.

All of them were really good, but a little oily.
I don’t think I ate a lot, but I was full.

My sister, Ito-chan’ doesn’t eat meat
However, they have many vegetables and seafood, so I think it is the good restaurant for her.

TAKANO-TSUME-DAN

(2009-05-11)
TAKANO-TSUME means hawk's talons, but it’s also red pepper.
The shape of red pepper looks like a hawk’s talon, that’s why.

TAKANO-TUME-DAN is a title of cartoon.
If you go to see a movie, you can see this carton.
It is a caution in a movie theater, like ‘do not use your cell phone’ or ‘ do not record the movie’.

Lately, this carton is really popular.
I didn’t know that, but you can buy DVD software.

My friend’s san bought this DVD.
He said another cartoon was sandwiched between TAKANO-TUME-DAN’S.
That carton is called ‘Kofin-chan’.

Afterwards, I looked for and found the cartoon.
It was really strange as TAKANO-TUME-DAN…

Of course, you can see on the Internet, but according to him. If you see it on a big monitor, it will be more exciting.

I want to see it. But I can’t buy this DVDs…

NEW SUIT

(2009-05-11)
About a month ago, I found plain cloth at a menswear shop.
I loved the cloth.
I asked if they could make a woman suit, so they said yes.

Today, my new suit was delivered.
It is cute, isn’t it??
I really like this.
This is my treasure!
I will wear until 80.

YOBO AND MON-CHI-CHI

(2009-05-10)
090509-1

I met my old friends, Yobo and Mon-chi-chi, on last Saturday.
They were my junior high school friends.
I haven’t met them for a while, however.

We met at the Yodoyabashi Station at 12:00, and then we went to see roses.
There is a rose garden along the Okawa River.
There are many cute and beautiful rose blossoms.
Now that area is an under construction, so the rose garden is smaller than the usual, but it was still beautiful.

Afterwards, we went to eat lunch close to the rose garden.
There is an eel restaurant along the Okawa River.
It was a really good restaurant.
You can see the Okawa from the restaurant. The entrance is a typical Japanese style, but the inside is like a cafeteria.
We ate the special eel lunch box. It was 1700 yen.

Yobo and Mon-chi-chi have two children, so their topics were about their children.
Lately, Yobo’s san entered a university, so she told us her sufferings of entrance exam.
I think she is a good speaker. Her talk never makes me boring.

Afterwards, we went to Starbucks and talked again.
Their talk was endless.
When we realized, it was 10:00P.M.
We were really surprised, and went home

Now, Yobo lives in Kawachinagano City and Mon-chi-chi lives in Yamashina.
Both cities sound like ….. Ummm, if I go to those areas, it is probably a short trip.
Yobo said she could see fireflies. I was surprised. I think they can touch beautiful natures anytime.
I am jealous, but I know I can not live in a country.

Anyway, we had a really good time.
We promised that we would meet again.

THE BIGGEST PROBLEM IN YAKUSHIMA

(2009-05-07)
090508Yakushima is one of the hottest sightseeing spots in Japan.
I visited there a year ago. There are beautiful natures and good seafood.

When I visited there, toilet was the biggest problem.
There wasn’t enough toilet system, and they used a train to carry urine.

I saw this news again during GW.
This problem has been getting worse and worse.
They sell disposable toilet to tourist for 500yen.
I don’t know if the tourists buy it or not.

People in Yakushima know that the best way to keep the beautiful nature is that reducing the number of tourists.
They know, however, if they reduce tourists, they won’t get enough money.

Now I still can see the beautiful Yakushima in my image.
I hope we can see the beautiful Yakushima 100 and 200 years later.

I LOVE KYUSHU

(2009-05-06)
While the GW, I visited the Keihan Department Store several times because they have held Kyushu food fair!!!

Hokkaido Food Fair is really popular and foods of Hokkaido sound like really delicious.
I agree.

But foods in Kyushu are more delicious than foods in Hokkaido. I always think so.
The reason is really simple.
The foods which I bought at Hokkaid fair are always not so bad but not so good.
However Kyushu foods are always really delicious.

This time I bought many many foods.

I introduce some of them.

Tsumajidori Sumibiyaki is the chicken grilled with coal.
And it is the best chicken I have ever eaten before.
The meat is tender and its smell is really fragrant.
It’s not too oily. If you love beer, you definitely think it is the best matched food for beer.

The second recommendation is Nemurase Doufu.
It is tofu. It is really hard to explain because it is produced by fermenting tofu.
Don’t you think it is strange?
Because tofu has already fermented.
Anyway it is tofu and its taste is like cheese.
I can eat rice as much as I want. It is really dangerous food.

I bought other foods. I bought Karashi-mentaiko, Neri-ten, Ikinari-dango, Yakitori etc…
All of them are really tasty.
I really love Kyushu. I want to live in Kyushu.

LOVE LOVE SARAUDON

(2009-05-05)
What is your favorite noodle?

I love Udon, Soba, Ramen.
I love any noodle.

I also love Saraudon.
There is a good Chinese restaurant near my office and their Saraudon is really good.
However, amount of noodle is too much, so I cannot order the Saraudon.

Now, the Keihan Department Store has held ‘Kyushu food fair’.
Of course, I visited!

This is one of my favorite Saraudons.
The noodles are really thin and crispy.

Why is Saraudon such delicious???
I will be happy if I eat Saraudon everyday.

MY FLOWER

(2009-05-04)
090504
A few months ago, one of my co-workers gave me a pottedf flower.
It was really cute.
I was not only happy but also scared because I’m not good at planting.

When he gave me the flower, there were many flowers.
Afterwards, many flowers have fallen.

I was really sad…
It wasn’t beautiful anymore.

At that time, my personnel changing was determined.
I thought my flower knew my feelings.

Now, it has many buds.
And I’m happy to work at my new section.

I observe the flower, then I want to control my feeling.

梅蘭芳

(2009-05-03)
How’s your GW?
I am really busy and tired…

I went to see a movie ‘Mei-Ran-Fan(梅蘭芳).

This story is about a guy who is a Chinese opera actor.
And it is a true story.

He was a top star. That’s why he couldn’t have his own private life.
He couldn’t go to see a movie and he couldn’t love a girl.

His friends, his family and all of the people around him existed for his artistic skill.
How did he feel his life?

This is the one episode.
His uncle who is also a Chinese opera actor was connected by the tool for restriction made of the paper.

Can you understand this mean?
Paper is torn easily.
It means you should keep a posture.

He was born in 1894. He knows the pitiful the World War II.
If he were born now, he could have a happier life.

He is really cute. I wanted to see his performance.
