JAPANESE OTOUSAN

(2010-03-31)
Many Japanese Otusan(fathers) are tired.
They work very hard from early morning to midnight.
They are yelled at by their bosses.
They have to listen to their wives’ daily lives and their sloppy talks.

EVERYDAY!!

For these Otousan, Japanese restaurants have some special menu, 'OTSUKARE SAMA SET’.
Those menus usually aren’t expensive, so many Otousan stop at these restaurant, drink a little, and go back to their homes after work.

This is one of OTSUKARE SAMA SET.
A jug of beer(middle size), two deep-fry-shrimp-shaomai, small size sara-udon, edamame, and Chinese scrambled eggs.
This price is just 1000yen!!

Any restaurants have same type of menu and the price is around 1000yen.

If your country has the same type of menu, please introduce them to me.

OUR SHOW TIME!!

(2010-03-31)
After the lunch, we showed our efforts.

Some classes in Japan gathered at the same place, and showed our usual works.

For example,
○ how to bow.
○ how to fold furoshiki(wrapping item made with fabric)
○ show some types of tie Obi(belt for Japanese kimono)

Our class’s act was ‘Business manner’.
The other classes’ members are usually formed with housewives but our class mates are single and have our own jobs, so we chose this theme.

The situation is like this.
A guest visits the office.
An office clerk receives and brings her to a guest room.
The president meets her and swaps business card with the guest.
The office clerk serves tea.
The office clerk brings paper.
The guest leaves.

It seems really easy, but very difficult.
For example, we showed how to sit on chairs, how to drink tea, how to pass and receive the paper, and of course, how to bow, how to walk….

It was difficult but very interesting.

This event ended around 4 o’clock.
It was one of the shortest days in my life.

THE SPRING EVENT OF ETIQUET CLASS -2-

(2010-03-30)
The fourth one was grilled fish. It was sawara.(Japanese Spanish mackerel)
This fish was good but really normal.
But one surprising thing was side dish.
There was a butterfly shaped yam on the plate.
First, I thought this butterfly was butting out a pattern.
I looked at it carefully, and then I realized that it was cut by a knife because it wasn’t symmetry.
Afterwards, I looked at my friend’s butterfly. It was bigger than mine.
I was sure I was right!!

The next one was a baby squid.
It was also tasty.
Just after one bite, bitter and thick flavor bowels flew in my mouth.
I can’t tell you well, but I was moved to the point of tears.

The last one were a bowl of rice and miso soup.
This miso soup was good, too. It was red miso and I don’t usually like red miso because it is sometimes too strong.
But it wasn’t bitter, thick, or salty.

And of course, desserts.

They served us strawberries and sliced orange.
This orange was the sweetest orange I have ever eaten.
I think it was ‘dekopon’ but I am not sure.
There were two types of sauces on the strawberries; one was condensed milk and the other one was mango taste sauce. It was a pleasure to the eye.

I thought these fruits were the last dish but they served an ice cream afterwards.
Raw sugar sauce was put on it. This sauce was tres tres bon!!!

Last time, when I went to Shien, I thought their dishes weren’t so good, but this time, I changed my mind.
Their dishes are perfect!!!

SPRING EVENT OF ETIQUET CLASS -1-

(2010-03-29)
As I said, I have been learning a Japanese etiquette.
Last Saturday, we held a big program of performances by students.

There are many etiquette schools all over Japan, and they gather and show our performances to other school mates once a year.

This time, we held it at Shien, which is a Japanese –style restaurant.
The program was made up of two parts.

The first part was lunch time.

We ate really good lunch there.

Unfortunately, Shien doesn’t accept taking pictures of their dishes, so I want to explain our lunch.
The first one, an appetizer, is
Nanohana, something wrapped by non cooked ham, encasing fish eggs in jelly, sushi of tai(porty) wrapped by leaves of cherry, a sweet rolled egg, cheese wrapped by something, and an arrowhead.
This egg was delicious. It was like a egg of ‘Datemaki’ but softer than Datemaki.
Sushi was also really good. A smell of leaves of cherry transfers to sushi. It brought me to under cherry trees.

The second one was shirumono, it was kind of soup.
There were minced shrimp and cooked chicken egg in a bowl.
The color of lacquer was black and the color of soup was perfectly clear.
This soup was …. I don’t know a good word to explain it!!!
It was a little sweet, but good body. It smelled like completely Japanese soup, as konbu and katsuo, but it wasn’t the one which I always cook and eat.

The third one was really orthodox, raw fishes, Tai, Shima-aji, and Toro.
All of them were fresh, and the Shima-aji was the perfect!! It contained enough fish oil.
There were only two slices, but two slices were enough for me. If they served more slices, I would have heartburn.

TACHI AOI

(2010-03-28)
tachiaoi (2)

There is the good Japanese restaurant, Tathiaoi, near the office.

Momo-chan and I often went there for lunch.

A few months ago, when we went there, it was closed.
I looked at a message.
The message said that their business hours were only for dinner.

We were very shocked!!!
We really liked this restaurant, and we were big fans of this restaurant.

Our section will have a welcome party.
I had to find a restaurant, and I decided to reserve Tachiaoi.

I talked to my boss about it, then he said he didn’t like this restaurant.

He went to the restaurant because I recommended.
But their dish was unpalatable to him.
He said something was not enough.

I went there afterward.
I wanted to say sorry about canceling the reservation, and I wanted to try to eat dinner by myself.

I still like Tachiaoi.
I drank a glass of sake, which was Nigori-zake, ate Ayu-no-sihoyaki, Takowasa, Tofu-with boiled chicken.
They were really good.
But if you want to smash out, you probably feel their dish is NOT enough.

When I left there, a cook of the restaurant, who was a beautiful lady, said that she had wanted to have a restaurant which a lady was able to come to alone.
She said to me that she wanted me to show her my face.

I decided to go to Tachiaoi, and want to enjoy their delicious dinner.

ASIAA AIRLINE

(2010-03-27)
As I said, Asiana Airline is the best airline I have ever gotten on.

Of course, I haven’t gotten on so many kinds airline; I think I have gotten on only 10 or so.
JAL, ANA, some American airlines, Asian airlines, and….etc.

The good points are
1.Cabin attendants are polite and cute.
2.Foods are very delicious.
3.Transit at Soul is very convenient.
4.The airfare is cheap.

Aren’t they enough when you choose an airline?

So, I always recommend this airline to my co-workers.
But any co-workers don’t want to take this airline.

I think they have a bad image of Korean airlines because our image of Korean airlines are ‘not good service’ and ‘dangerous’.
I still remember the terrible and horrible incident, bombing of a KAL airliner.

I don’t think Korean Air Lines and Asiana Airline are the same.
(I’m sorry. I have never used KAL, so I’m not sure KAL is like.)

I hope you should be free from bias and try to get on Asiana!!

Could you give me an idea??

(2010-03-25)
I bought an iPhone about a half month ago.
Since then, I have used it as a cell phone, sending an e-mail, and sometime a game machine.
My favorite program is a compass.
It is very convenient.
When I go to a strange town, it works very well.
I am person who has no sense of direction!!

The reason why I am not a heavy user of iPhone, I am not good at using this kind of cell phone.
Many Japanese can use this kind of machine very well, but I prefer a personal computer.

Lately, I try it use as an iPod.
I recorded a CD of Chinese text, and listen to it because I have to memorize many vocabularies.

Of course, I listen to it in a train or when I am walking.

A bad thing is that a cord of head phone is too long and gets tangles easily.
It bothers me.
How do you use it?

If you have a good idea, please let me know…

BON BOIS

R0010401.jpg

R0010406.jpg

I am very busy lately.
I have to work overtime and on holidays.

Last Saturday, I went to the office because of busy.

I thought it was a good chance to go to a French restaurant.

There is a French restaurant close to the office.
I wanted to go to the restaurant, but I always don’t have enough time to go.
Our lunch break is only 45minutes…

So, I thought I would be able to go to the restaurant!!!!

I took a reservation and went there at 12:00.

It was a really cute and smart restaurant.
Some of this kind of restaurants are sometimes too suitable for women, but this restaurant is good for men, too.

The lunch set menu is
Appetizer
Soup
Main dish
Coffee
Dessert

There were four dishes for appetizers and main dishes, and you can choose one each dish.

I ordered ‘lake smelt and squid in French sweet and peppery vegetable sauce’ for appetizer and ‘grilled chicken’ for main dish.

I always eat delicious foods but this dish is the latest best food.
The appetizer’s source was thick and smooth. It brought out the flavor of those ingredients.

The main dish
There were bread crumbs on the chicken. It was crispy and good smell.
And mustard hid between the chicken and the bread crumbs.
It spiced the chicken up with the mustard.

And this lunch is only for 2000yen!!!

It’s worth to going.

BIG HEAD

(2010-03-23)
I need plenty of time to tell about this, but… one of my co-workers passed away.
That day was February 17th.

February 11st is the national holiday.
And when I went to job the next day, it was February 12nd, my boss gathered his followers, there were only two people include me, and said, BIG HEAD, who is that guy, had been in a hospital.
My boss said that when he went back to his home on the 10th, he fell down a stairway at Kitahama Station, and when a station conductor found him, he shed blood and was unconscious.

He stayed at the hospital for about one week.
While he stayed there, he could move his hands and legs, and sometimes nodded when his wife talked to him.

But his brain was swollen and it was a bad sign.

On February 18th.
This time, another section’s boss gathered us.
I could expect what he wanted to talk about.
And he told me the worst news.

BIG HEAD and I worked together.
His desk and my desk were side by side.

Can you believe this?
He was sitting, laughing, and complaining until the day before.

I still have his dreams sometimes.
I still hear his voice.

I miss him.

馬刺し丼

R0010395.jpg
Hanshin Department Store (OH!! NOT KEIHAN) has held Kumamoto & Kagoshima product fair
Of course, I visited!!!

What is your image of these prefectures????

My images are, hot, people are polite and friendly, and of course foods are delicious!!

They sell many foods and I wanted to eat all of them.

Unfortunately, I have only one stomach and it is a limited fair, so I had to choose only one food.

A chicken-bowl and ramen were really attractive, but I chose a horse-meat-bowl.
I thought I had a lot of chances to eat ramen and chicken but I didn’t have any chances to eat horse meat.

When I got there, Hanshin Department Store was really crowded. It was a weekday, though.
I thought that here was Umeda, NOT Moriguchi…

I could see many shops.
I wanted to look at each shop but I didn’t have enough time.
I had to buy a food ticket. Many people were waiting for buying tickets.
I didn’t want to wait but I went to Hanshin to eat food, so I also waited.

I waited for about 10 minutes and finally I could buy a ticket.
Hanshin Department Store was just before close, so I was almost the last person who could buy the ticket.

This is the horse-meat-bowl.
What do you think about it???
There are some sliced red meats and sliced fatty meat.
I thought it was delicious, but I don’t know which part was delicious.
I mean its sauce was a little sweet and very delicious. In addition to, I put some ginger on the bowl, so I don’t know if the horse meat is delicious or not.
Anyway, the big difference between beef and horse is that I think horse meat sounds like healthy.
So, even if I eat fatty meat of horse, I think it is OK.

Kumamoto and Kagoshima fair is really rare.
I hope other department stores hold the same fair like this.

R0010383.jpg

The wedding party was held in the hall.
101 people attended this party.
Lately, Jimikon, it means a simple wedding party, is really popular, so this type of party is really rare.

Even if so many people attended, this party was simple.
I mean…
My image of wedding party is ‘too long speech of so many people’, ‘too many Karaoke by their acquaintances’, and ‘too many changing costumes’.
But they didn’t do those silly events.

The speeches were made by only three people, the groom’s two bosses, the bride’s friend,
And the groom’s friend played the piano.
The bride changed her costume only once, and there were no Karaoke.

The dishes were really good, too.
I think dishes of wedding party are always NOT delicious, because they prepare food in advance.
I know they have to make too many dishes, but I cannot enjoy those foods.

But this party’s foods were good.
I drank Sake a little.
That sake was the groom’s recommendation.
It was good, too.

The bride and groom seemed vey happy.
I wish they keep having this feeling forever..

A HAPPY HAPPY WEDDING -2-

(2010-03-19)
R0010291.jpg

By the way, I want to introduce the bride and the groom.
The groom is one of employees of my company.
He joined our company two years ago.
When I met him first time, I couldn’t understand the reason why my company employed him.
He didn’t know the way to talk to his boss, his attitude at the office was terrible, and …. I need thousands of lines to describe about him….

The bride was a temporary staffer.
She and I worked at the same office once a week.
She is really cute, sometimes inflexible, and earnest.
She is one of the persons who I can believe.

So, when I heard that they were dating, I was very shocked.
Why does she like him???

Last year, the groom moved to Tohoku University for our research, and at the same time, she moved to Sendai with him…

And finally they married.

It is really hard for me but I want to bless them.

R0010284.jpg

My ex-co-workers and my co-worker were married.
I went to wedding ceremony on March 13rd.

The ceremony was held in Ashiya.
The hall was a typical wedding ceremony hall of my image.

The hall seemed brand new; its image color is white, it is clean and cute.
I think young ladies want to hold a wedding ceremony at like this hall.

Their wedding was called ‘Jinzenshiki’.
Japanese usually swear their eternal love to god but our co-works swore their love to us.
I think it is a good idea because many Japanese don’t believe the gods.

After the ceremony, they had a small gardening party.
It was a little cold, so I don’t remember how long the party was but I felt it was too long.
At the garden, they served some drink and snacks.
And they opened a bottle of champagne, took pictures together.

そばドーナッツ

(2010-03-17)
R0010392.jpg
These doughnuts are white day gift from my friend’s husband.
A few months ago, he gave me an ‘ATOME pen case’.
Then, I gave him a valentine day’s gift.
And then, he gave me a white day gift.

Endless.

The reason why he gave me the Atom pan case was that when he saw that pan case in Daimaru Department store, he reminded me and asked his wife, of course she is my friend, if I liked this pan case or not.

I think Atom is his my image.

These doughnuts are sold in Nagata, my friend lives in Nagata, and made with buckwheat flour.

Their texture is stretch as mochi, lately this kind of texture is really popular.
Only for a reason that they are made of buckwheat flour, I think they are healthy.

The doughnuts were tasty.
I ate not only the doughnuts but also their kindness.

KANSO CAFE

(2010-03-16)
R0010266.jpg

R0010268.jpg
I went to Kanso café.

Kanso is a seaweed product shop in Osaka.

Yoshiko really likes and often buys their products.
I think she is collecting stamps and got a free ticket of Kanso café.

I don’t know why seaweed product shop has a café, but when I eat Japanese sweets, as Zenzai or Oshiruko, I always eat seaweed products together, so I think seaweed product and Japanese sweets are friends.

Even if she got a free ticket, she has no time to go to Kanso café, because their working time is until 5:00P.M. on weekdays.
Luckily, my office is close to Kanso, so she gave me the free ticket and I went to café.

They had two sweets; one is ice cream and the other is zenzai.

Both sweets seemed really sweets and delicious, so I wanted to eat both.
Unfortunetly, I have only one stomach, so I had to choose one of them.

I really wanted to eat ice cream because it was a little hot, but my doctor always says that I shouldn’t eat something cold, so I chose zenzai.

This zenzai was NOT a zenzai I always eat.
There was no mochi in zenzai, and two mochi were put on another plate and there were some sliced dried seaweed on the mochi.

This seaweed was very very delicious. I don’t know other words which describe this, but anyway very delicious.
It was soft and melted in my mouth.

Zenzai was enough sweet, so this seaweed made my mouth flat.

The inside of this café had many Japanese interior.
I felt like I went back to Edo are( I have never been to Edo are, though).

I had a really good time at this café.
Thank you! Yoshiko!

KOBE CAKES

(2010-03-15)
R0010152.jpg

We wanted to go to a café at Kobe but I don’t know a good café in Kobe.
I thought there were some good café in Daimaru Department Store, so we went there.

There were many cafes in the department store.
We looked at a map of the store and chose one of them, Daniel.
Some people were waiting for to take seats, so we were also waiting.

While waiting, we looked at their manufacturing.
They made beautiful cakes, so looking at those steppes was exciting.
We looked at them and thought about our cakes. I haven’t decided which cake I would take because their cakes seemed really delicious…

We took seats about 15 or 20 minutes later.
Ito-chan ordered chestnut Mont Blanc and I ordered strawberry Mont Blanc.
Both cakes seemed …. Ummm I don’t have any word which describe them.
We ordered a cream puff, too.
Their cream puffs were big and exciting.
We couldn’t eat a whole cram puff, so we asked them if they would cut the cream puff.

These are the photos of cakes.
Oh!! How beautiful!!!
I like Japanese sweets but I also love European sweets.
My cake was a little non-fatty and Ito-chan’s was sweeter than mine.
But both cakes and cream puff were really really good…
My mouth still remembers its flavor…
I want to eat them one more time…

The café was clean and comfortable.
I can see a Kobe town through the window.
I don’t usually go to Kobe, but I think Kobe is one of the smartest towns in Japan.

We got back to our house afterwards.
We couldn’t eat dinner because of full, so we just drank beer or Sake.
It was an exciting memory, too.

KOBE SUBWAY

(2010-03-14)
R0010145.jpg

We got back to Nagata station and got on subway.

Kobe subway has wrapping cars of Three Kingdom Sage, so I wanted to get on the subway and take pictures.

They also have posters of Three Kingdom Sage at each station.
Only Nagata Station has the Tetsujin 28th poster.
That poster was really cool and the size of poster’s Tetsujin is the same as the real Tetsujin size.

The train came.
The paintings of the train were simpler than I thought.
My image of train was Kitarou train in Sakaiminao.
That train was covered with Kitarou pictures but Sangokushi train only introduced characters of Three Kingdom Sage.
I was a little disappointed.

We got off at Minato Motomachi station, took a picture of poster, got on the subway again, and got off at Daimaru Mae.

OKINAWA SHOP

(2010-03-13)
We visited Okinawa product shop near Nagata station.

I like Kyushu product foods and I also like Okinawa foods.

When we got there, they held a concert of Okinawa music.
The shop was bigger than I thought.

Ito-chan was interested in Okinawa bag.
She stared at them but she didn’t buy them.

I only saw foods of Okinawa.

They had some foods made of peanuts. Those foods seemed really delicious.
I wanted to buy, but I know peanut is high calorie food, so I didn’t buy anything.
Even if I didn’t buy them, my mouth and tongue knew its flavor.
My decision was very a courageous act.

Ito-chan stopped at a liquor area.
They had many Shochu bottles.
I don’t drink Shochu but they grabbed Ito-chan’s heart.

Ito-chan didn’t buy Shochu but she seemed she enjoyed enough.

NAGATA -OKONOMIYAKI-2-

(2010-03-11)
R0010122.jpg

Even if the owner wasn’t polite, okonomi-yaki was really good.
Its taste wasn’t too thick, so I usually get thirsty after eating Okonomiyaki, but I didn’t feel thirsty this time.

Ito-chan drank beer, of course, but I didn’t drink…

After we ate Okonomi-yaki, we walked along the shopping street.

There is a long shopping street in Nagata, but there aren’t enough shops.
I mean some shops are not used.

I didn’t know Nagata was such a big city, and I didn’t know Hanshin Awasji earthquake’s ruin was still there.

We stopped at a couple of Yokoyama Mitsuteru spots.

Nagata introduces some of his works, especially, Tetsujin 28th and Three Kingdom Saga.
We could see their statues. Of course, I took those pictures.

When we walked around, we found a sweet shop.
That shop was a chain store, so I can see the same shop in Osaka.
I don’t know why, but that shop was really attractive.
Ito-chan bought manju at that shop.

Nagata shopping street seems like a small amusement park.
There are some small museums and photo spots..
I took pictures and other tourists also took many pictures.
I felt really happy, because Nagata has still struggled but they are sure they come back from the terrible disaster.

NAGATA -OKONOMIYAKI-

(2010-03-10)
Afterwards, we went to eat lunch.

We were really hungry because we didn’t eat breakfast.

Nagata was famous for Konamon, like Okonomi-yaki, Takoyaki, etc.

There are many Konamon restaurants in Nagata.
Before we went to Nagata, I looked for some good Okonomiyaki restaurants on the Internet and printed out their information.

We visited a couple of Okonomiyaki restaurants but they didn’t seem good restaurants.

Ito-chan chose one restaurant and it wasn’t crowded.
Ito-chan didn’t know that but I knew that restaurant was one of the most popular restaurants in Nagata area.

I said it wasn’t crowded, but it was really rare. I heard this restaurant was always crowded.

Ito-chan ordered Ika-yaki and I ordered Modern-Yaki.

The owner of this restaurant was a little strange.
He wasn’t polite, so I felt really bad.

R0010123.jpg

NAGATA- TETSUJIN 28TH-

(2010-03-09)
R0010105.jpg
Ito-chan and I went to Nagata to see Tetsujin 28th.
Nagata is the name of town in Hyogo and it got hit a catastrophic damage at Hanshin-Awaji earthquake.
Since then, they struggle to recover.
Tstsujin 28th is one of the rehabilitation projects.

Yokoyama Mitsuteru san is a author of Tstsujin 28th.
He was born in Suma, where was close to Nagata, so Nagata decided to use his works for the symbol of Nagata.

We arrived at Nagata around noon.
We walked through a shopping arcade, and then suddenly, Tetsujin 28th appeared.

It was huge!!!
Cool!

Many people surrounded Tetsujin 28th.

I have seen the same situation before.
It was my dream.
And the difference was that it wasn’t Tetsujin; it was Mazinger Z.

We looked up Tetsujin.
It was bigger than I thought.

I thought this project was success.
Because many people visited here and they seemed really happy.

POITIERS

(2010-03-08)
R0010086.jpg
Since I went to France, I have been addicted to cheese and wine.

On 28th February, Ito-chan and I went to drink.
That restaurant was famous for wine and cheese and a woman who works there was a professional of wine and cheese.

They had a large variety of wine lists, but almost all of them are bottled wine.

There were not many glass wine lists.
Even if they had many lists, I couldn’t choose one of them, so it was OK.

I chose sparking wine.

And we also ordered cheese set.

The restaurant’s atmosphere was really good.
I felt like I was in another country. Inside of the restaurant was a little dark, but enough bright to drink wine.

I don’t know why, but their works were too slow.

I thought they would bring cheese soon, but we had to wait about 20 or 30 minutes.

How do you think about it???

I know there are many opinions.

In my case, it was OK.
Because I could enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant, and I could enjoy talking with Ito-chan.

Their cheeses were good. They introduced us from light taste cheese to thick taste cheese.
It was a big fun for me to compare those cheeses.
All of them were really good, but my favorite one was melted one.

I thought I could drink wine as long as I ate those cheeses.

Afterwards, Ito-chan ordered another glass of wine.
I wanted to drink more, but I didn’t drink anymore.

We also ordered some foods.
They had home made smoked XXXX.
For example, smoked salmon, smoked chicken, etc.

Ito-chan ate smoked salmon salad and Ratatouille rapped by buckwheat flour

Of course, I ate chicken!!! I love chicken!!!

Those dishes were really delicious and good for wine.

I like wine and cheese, but I don’t have any friends who enjoy wine and cheese together, so visiting this restaurant was a good chance for me.

If I can, I want to visit there one more time and drink delicious wine!

SHUGAKUIN RIKYU -UPPER VILLA-

(2010-03-06)
DSC_4352.jpg

DSC_4354.jpg

DSC_4323.jpg

Upper Villa was a main construction of Shugakuin Rikyu.
There is a huge artificial pond in the center of the garden.
It remained me Katsura Rikyu.
This pond is called ‘Yoku-Ryu-chi’(a dragon’s bath tab).
The guide explained dragon’s head or tail, but I couldn’t find dragon.

There are tow houses around the pond.
One is Rinuntei.
It is a simple construction. There are three rooms in it but there is no tokonoma or shelf. I guess it had been built for only looking at Yoku-ryu-chi.

The other one is Kyu-sui-tei.
I could see linear beauty. It was really cool.

We walked around the pond afterwards.
There was a small house along the pond.
The guide said that when Princess Diana and Prince Charles visited here, they sat down on a Japanese sofa in the small house and looked at the pond.

The guided tour was about one hour and half.
It was a beautiful construction but I prefer Katsura-Rikyu.

When I went back to Shugakuin Station, we saw some students who went to Shugakuin elementary school.
They seemed wise only going to the school called ‘shugakuin’.

SHUGAKUIN RIKYU -MIDDLE VILLA-

Next, we visited Middle Villa.
There are two houses there, Rakushiken and Kyakuden(guest room).
Rakushiken is said that it was built in 1688 or 1687.

Kyakuden is famous for their interiors.

There is a stair-shaped shelf(chigai dana), and it is one of the most famous stair-shaped shelves.
I knew the same kind of shelf of Katsura Rikyu, but I couldn’t see it of Katsura Rikyu.
The shelf in Shugakuin was cool.
It made my mind rich.
I could see a picture of capes on fusuma-slid-door.
And also I could see a net on the same picture.
According to the guide, this capes seemed like still alive, so Maruyama Okyo drew the net afterwards, because of not to escape these capes.

Before Yajikita, Ito-chan and I visited Shugakuin Imperial Villa.

When Ito-chan comes to Japan, we always want to visit Imperial Villa Shugakuin or Katsura, but to visit these villas we need to book in advance, and when Ito-chan decides visiting Japan, it is always too late.

However, this time, we had enough time, so I sent a postcard and booked Shugakuin Imperial Villa.

Shugakuin Imperial Villa was started building in 1655.
It is consisted of 3 parts; Lower Villa, Middle Villa, and Upper Villa.

First of all, we watched a video tape(or DVD?) of this Villa. We learned about a few tips and moved to the villa.

Of course, a guide brought us to a tour.
I don’t remember the number of the people who joined this tour, but it was less than 20 people.
We passed thorough Miyukimon Gate, Jugetsukan. This area was called ‘Lowere Villa’.

There was a small Japanese garden and a house. There are three rooms in this house. It is not only ‘Upper Villa’ but also the entrance of Upper Villa.

I took a day off and Ito-chan and I visited Kyoto on 22nd February.

In Kyoto we had to eat something sweet.

I love cakes but my image of Kyoto sweet is Japanese sweets, so we decided to go to Japanese sweet shop.

There are many Japanese style cafes in Kyoto but when I want to go to one of them, I cannot find a good cafe.
So, I looked for some Japanese style cafes on the internet and printed out some information.

I showed this paper to Ito-chan.
She looked at one of them and said that our mother had liked this cafe, Yajikita.
We didn’t waste lots of time to choose Yajikita.

Yajikita was located close to Gion. I looked at a map and looked for this café, but it was hard to find.
We crossed Takase River several times and walked through a back street.
Just before I gave up to find it, I found this café.

It seemed an old Japanese style house.
It was just my image of Kyoto.
It seemed like not only Japanese café but also Udon restaurant.
It was a wooden architecture but the floor was made of concrete.
Of course, tables and chairs were made of woods.

There was a small garden outside of the café. It was cool.

I ordered Ozennzai and Ito-chan ordered Oshiruko.
My zenzai was enough sweet but not so sickly.
I ate zenzai and thought about my mother’s visit.
She propably ate zenzai or oshiruko at this table and talked about her boyfriends, her family, or her jobs.

This café was not so far from Keihan Shijo, so I want to visit here sometime.
