KINOSAKI & IZUSHI -10/22-1

(2011-10-31)
We went to a public bath in the morning, ate breakfast, and headed to Izushi.

Izushi is an old castle town and famous as Izushi soba.

There are many sightseeing spots in Izushi but we didn’t have any plans.
However, we got a free map of Izushi and we found a model sightseeing course on the map.
There were three courses and we decided trying a 4-hour-walking-course.

KINOSAKI & IZUSHI -10/21- BEJINNOYU

(2011-10-28)
I didn’t get on the cable car anymore; we walked down the mountain from the temple.

We got back to the hotel, checked in, and went to a public bath.
There are several public bathes in Kinosaki.
Tourist enjoy going to those bathes.

We went to Bijinno-yu(beautiful lady’s hot spring).
We thought if we went there, we would be more beautiful.

When we got there, we saw a sign which said ‘Full’.
We were surprised because it was a week day.
If it was a weekend, we would have to wait for taking bath…

Anyway, we went into the bath.
We had a special ticket, so we were given a special towel.
When we went to the bath tab area, many people had just left the bath tab area.
We thought we were lucky.

The water was no color and clear. It was a little salty.
We walked a lot, so we were really tired.
The hot water healed us.
We thought we would not become muscular-ache the next day.

We got back to the hotel and took a bath again.
This time, we washed our body and our head.
There were no people at the bath, so we could relax a lot.

For ready to eat dinner, we had to be clean.

KONOSAKI & IZUSHI -10/1- ONSEN-DEAR

(2011-10-27)
R0013037.jpg

We put our bags at a hotel and went to get on a cable car.

By the way, we bought the ‘gururin pass’ for the trip.
This pass was included in train tickets, bus tickets, entrance fees of some sightseeing spots and entrance fees of pubic bathes.
And this cable car’s fee was also included.
It was very convenient and reasonable.

When we arrived at the cable car station, the car had just left.
We had free time.
Kiyomi-chan tried to make boiled eggs there.
She took them to her home for souvenirs.
I was worried that they might go bad.

The height of mountain was 231m.
We got the top of the mountain for 7 minutes.
It was very fast!!
If I climb the mountain, I will need more than one hour…

We could see the Kinosaki town from the mountain.
Kinosaki town is located between two mountains.
It seemed a really small town.
And you can also see Nihonkai.
The view from the mountain was interesting for me.

We got on the cable car again and got off at the half part of the mountain.
There was an old temple called Hot Spring Temple there.
It was built about 1400years ago.
It was a good temple.
They had many great Buddha images.
They were very good works.
Their ‘Thousand Armed Avalokiteshwara’ was especially good.
She was really beautiful and grace.
She seemed that she had a special healing power.
I thought I wanted to look at her longer and longer.

A monk at the temple had a black mark(I think it was a wart) on his forehead.
Kiyomi-chan and I said that the reason which he was born had just become a monk.

KONOSAKI & IZUSHI -10/1- FEEDING TIME

(2011-10-26)
Afterwards, we saw a video show.
There was a columnar water tank and there was a circle plate on the water tank.
We got on the plate.
Then, a film started.
We could see a panorama image around us.
Afterwards, the plate sank into the tank.
Two dolphins swam around the tank, so we could see them really close.
Ummm
I'm sorry I can't explain well.
Anyway it was a fantastic and dynamic show

After we tried that we went to see walrus.
It was feeding time.
However it was not only the feeding.
We could also learn about walrus a lot.
For example, how to know their sex is.
How many fingers they have.
How to breeze.
etc
They were very big, clever, and cute.
We enjoyed watching them

We left the aquarium around 2:00 pm and went back to Kinosaki town.
R0013032.jpg

KINOSAKI & IZUSHI -10/21- PENGUIN PARADE

(2011-10-25)
R0013024.jpg
They had several events.
First, we tried feeding fish.
I don't know what kind of fish they were but their action was like carps at shrines.
When they saw shadows of men, they rushed to the shadows.
They ate foods from my hand but they also ate my fingers.
I felt their teeth

The second event which we tried was to see a penguin parade.
Two penguins walked around the aquarium.
I have seen a penguin parade at the aquarium in Osaka before, but when I saw it, I couldn’t see well because of too many people

This time, there weren't many people there, so I could see well.
They were really cute.
They seemed they were interested in many things, so they didn't walk straight.
They stopped several times, looked around there, and then they started to walk again.

A handler of penguin sometimes pushes the penguins back.
The last part of the parade, the penguins seemed tired.
They couldn't walk fast.
They have to try to change their labor conditions.

KINOSAKI & IZUSHI -10/21-2- AQUARIUM.

(2011-10-24)
R0013016.jpg

We went to an aquarium afterwards.
The aquarium was not so special.
I mean you can see the same kinds of sea animals at any aquariums.
However, I really like aquariums, so I enjoyed it.

I said their sea animals weren’t special.
But their sea animals were special in a certain sense.

Have you ever seen a moray before?
I feel it is eerie.
The morays at the aquarium were too big.
I have never seen such big morays.
We were really surprised.

And they also had very big walruses and very big salamanders.
I think they are good at feeding animals.

I was excited that I could see such special animals.

KINOSAKI & IZUSHI-10/21-1-

(2011-10-23)
My friend, Kiyomi-chan and I went to Kinosaki.
We go to hot springs every year with my ex-co-workers.
The number of the members is usually 4 or 5 but this time was only two.
I was a little sad….

We met at the Osaka Station at 8:00A.M. and got on a train.
Kiyomi-chan bought a tall size of can beer. My one was a normal size.
The train was delay as usual.
We got on the train for about 3-4 hours.
Because I emptied the beer soon, I thought I had to buy a bigger one.

We arrived at Kinosaki around noon.
We ate lunch close to the Kinosaki Station.
We have planned that we would eat a large bowl of rice topped with fresh seafood ’Kaisen Donburi-海鮮丼’.
However, we thought we would eat much seafood for dinner, so we changed our plan, and we ate sandwiches.

We ate at a coffee shop.
The coffee shop was owned by a family.
We ordered crab sandwiches and egg sandwiches.
There were the some crabs, some lettuce, some sliced cucumbers and some sliced onions in the crab sandwiches.
It was really tasty.
I really like egg sandwiches and there sandwiches were good.
I felt happy.
The coffee shop which we chose was really good.

TAIWAN-10/2-4- GOOD BY TAIWAN

(2011-10-22)
Happy time spent rapidly.
It was time to go home.
We took a bus, headed to the airport, bought some souvenirs, and got on the airplane.

The last part of the trip was very busy.
Tsuru-chan’s uncle passed away during the trip, so she was in a hurry.
Even if she was in a hurry, she couldn’t run in the airplane.

By the way, I really like Taiwan doll play.
It was import to Japan once, but Japanese people didn’t like it.

Afterwards, when I visit Taiwan, I look for its DVDs.

This time, I found the DVDs at the airport.
Unfortunately, I have already bought too many souvenirs, so I couldn’t buy the DVDs.
I always looked for in the DVD shop.
And this time, I could understand why I couldn’t find the DVDs.
Its DVDs were sold in a toy shop.
Next time, I definitely go to a toy shop and buy the DVDs.

We arrived at Nagoya Airport.
I had to go back to Osaka, so I got on the Shinkansen.
I arrived at my apartment at 10p.m.

I was really tired.

But I really love Taiwan.

TAIWAN-10/2-3- TEA HOUSE

(2011-10-21)
R0012988.jpg

Finally, we went to the tea house.

You can see it on a guide book, so many Japanese visited there.

I ordered Houshu-Cha(包種茶) –I don’t know in English-.
R0012981.jpg

What is your image of Chinese tea?
Isn’t it like Suntory oolong tea?
It is completely different.
Oolong or Chinese tea is not like that.
It is really good smell but it is not like herb tea.

There are thousands kinds of Chinese tea, but roughly there are 6 types.

By the way, don’t you think Chinese tea is expensive?

I thought it was too expensive.

To make Chinese tea, there are many process flows.
It needs much time, many people, and lots of efforts and loves.
If you learn about Chinese tea, you will agree why Chinese tea is such expensive.

Houshu-cha is very close to Japanese tea.
The color is yellow green.
It is a little sweet and you can feel ‘green flavor’ and sun shine.

Their tea was good but there sweets were marvelous.
R0012984.jpg

This is a pie
After we ordered they started to make this pie.
So, we had to wait for much time but it was worth to waiting.
Tsuru-chan said it was the best food during this trip.
I agree her.
It was not too sweet and the pie was crispy and hot.

TAIWAN-10/2-2-Sheraton Hotel

(2011-10-20)
Our plan was to drink Chinese tea.

But it was too early, so we looked around an underground mall of Taipei.
We bought lots of souvenirs, dried fruits, cosmetics, etc.
They were inexpensive because the shops were not for tourists.
I could buy enough souvenirs there.

We got on MRT(subway) and got off at the next stop.

We could find a tea shop soon, but it hasn’t opened yet.

There was the Sheraton Hotel close to the tea shop, so we went there.

It was a wrong choice…

There was a shopping mall on the basement.
We went down to the basement.

So, there was a pottery shop just in front of us.
We got sucked into the pottery shop…

At the shop, we could see many beautiful potteries.

I thought they were expensive and I couldn’t buy them, but they were more reasonable than I thought.

I found a cup which I had seen at Ingu.
When I visited Ingu, I really wanted to buy it, but I didn’t buy….

And I met it again. I thought it was a kind of fate.

Other potteries were really beautiful, too.

And Tsuru-chan and I really liked a clerk.
She was a middle-aged lady.
She was not strong.
She had a lot of knowledge of potteries.
She explained a lot about their products.
And I could feel she really loved potteries.

Tsuru-chan and I bought a couple of potteries.

We said-
We bought the potteries. But if a clerk wasn’t her, we wouldn’t buy the potteries.

TAIWAN-10/2-1-DR.SUN'S HOUSE

(2011-10-19)
10/2
R0012975.jpg

We ate breakfast at the hotel.
I wanted to eat a lot but I couldn’t because I ate too much at Meizu…

We didn’t have any plans.
We checked out the hotel anyway.

We visited The Dr. Sun Yat-sen House.

Who is Dr. Sun?
He in born in China and got an American nationality.
He found an asylum in Japan several times.
He is called ‘Father’ in China.
But the relationship between Taiwan and Dr. Sun is really serious.
If you interested in Dr. Sun please read following website.

http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Author:Sun_Yat-sen?uselang=ja

This house was used to be a hotel and when Dr. Sun visited Taiwan, he stayed at this hotel.
It is a Japanese style house, so there are some tatami-mats or sliding door made with wood and paper(fusuma).
You can see some documents and photos from Dr.Sun’s life.
Even if you cannot read Chinese, you can expect what they are.

It wasn’t so big but there was a beautiful garden there.
There was a pond in the garden.
At a fine day, it is really good for you to have a picnic there.

Two Korean girls visited the house, but the house was really silent.
I couldn’t feel I was in a center of Taipei.

TAIWAN-10/1- 梅子MEIZU-

(2011-10-18)
Afterwards, we went to eat dinner.
Tsuru-chan wanted to go to delicious one.

R0012967.jpg

She decided a restaurant where she wanted to go to.
We asked about that restaurant at the hotel, so a concierge said that was a really good Taiwan food restaurant.
The restaurant was close to the shampoo shop.

The building of the restaurant was old.
I thought it had a long history.
We doubted if an elevator worked well.
The restaurant floor was located on the second floor.
At the entrance of the floor, we could see many fresh fishes in some aquariums.
Of course, they were still alive!!
The restaurant cooked some food with those fresh fishes.

These are dinner which we ate.
R0012969.jpg

R0012970.jpg

R0012971.jpg

R0012973.jpg

R0012974.jpg

This crab’s one was the most famous one.
Many customers ordered the same one because they could see it on a guidebook.
There was sticky rice under the crab.
It was a little sweet, but I could feel seafood soup taste.
It was really really good.

This was a sharks' fin soup.
I don’t usually like sharks’ fin because it is plane.
So, the most important thing of sharks’ fin soup is a flavor of soup.

This soup was really good.
I always think sharks’ fin soup needs a little rich taste.
It was the best sharks’ fin soup I had eaten before.
The rich taste of soup helped the plane flavor fin soup.
R0012968.jpg

By the way, we drank two kinds of beers.
One was ‘draft beer’ and the other was normal(?) beer.
We thought ‘draft beer’ was always poured in a jug, but it was a bottle of beer.
I prefer the normal beer in Taiwan.

We ate too much again.
I wanted to need a big stomach.

We couldn’t move.
We had to reduce the food in our stomachs, so we got back to the hotel on foot.
On the streets, we could see night scenes of Taiwan.

I felt sad because I had to get back to Japan next day.

TAIWAN -10/1-5- SHAMPOO

(2011-10-16)
I want to talk about ‘the free bus’.

It runs around the Ingu town and stops at some sightseeing spots.
There are two persons on the bus.
One is a driver, of course.
And the other is a lady who helps customers.

She asked us where we would go to, and told us when we arrived at the station where we got off.
She was really polite.
I don’t know why Taiwanese are always polite.
It is one of the reasons why I love Taiwan.

After we got back to the hotel, we decided going to wash our hairs.

Can you understand what I mean?

Taiwan shampoo is very famous.
You can see it on a guide book.

Tsuru-chan’s friends strongly recommended going to Taiwan shampoo.
We asked a concierge of the hotel, and she recommended a shampoo shop.

This hotel had a good service for customers.
They drove us to the shampoo shop for free.

The shampoo shop wasn’t a shampoo shop.
Their specialty was a massage, so they didn’t have enough staff of shampoo.
Tsuru-chan and I washed hair in turn.

It was a kind of massage.
It was very comfortable.
However, I couldn’t understand why this shampoo was so famous.
I didn't wash my hair on that day, anyway.

TAIWAN-10/1-4 -POTTERY SHOPS

(2011-10-15)
R0012956.jpg

R0012957.jpg

Finally, we started to look around pottery shops.

We looked at each pottery shop along the street.

It was a paradise.

The first shop which we visited had a good selection of products.

A few products were very expensive, but almost all of them were reasonable.
I could see many beautiful cups, teapots, and dolls.
I wanted to buy soon, but it was the first shop, so I just looked around the shop.

Afterwards, we visited other shops.
Some of them were suspicious.

Each shop had each own color.
Even if they sold the same one, it seemed something different.
It was really interesting.

We looked at many potteries.

After we looked around enough, we started to buy some potteries.

Tsuru-chan bought a doll and teacup at the first shop.
I wanted to buy a beautiful Chinese tea cup of the lacquering.
I was dark red and very chic.
However, I thought I wouldn’t use it so long time because I would get tired of looking at it, so I didn’t buy it.

I bought a rabbit doll at another shop.
I have seen that doll in Japan and I wanted to buy it.
But it was a little expensive in Japan, so I haven’t bought it.
Luckily, it was cheaper than Japanese one, so I decided to buy it.
It was very cute and cool.

I bought a teacup at another shop.

I could see a carving of dragons.
It seemed really powerful.
I like dragon design, so I bought it.

We were really satisfied.
We got on the free bus again, got on the train, and got back to the hotel.

TAIWAN-10/1- 3-LUNCH

(2011-10-14)
One reason of our visit to Taiwan was buying Chinese tea cups.

We got off at the entrance of a pottery street.

First, we ate lunch.
We didn’t feel so hungry, but we thought if we didn’t eat lunch at that time, we wouldn’t have any chance to eat lunch.

The restaurant was just my image of Taiwanese restaurant.
Many Taiwanese families and couples ate at the restaurant.

We saw lunch what they ate.
Almost all of them ate ‘lunch plate’.
There were rice and some Okazu(meet or vegetables or something) on a plate.
They seemed really delicious.

They had a menu card.
Luckily, we could read Kanji, so we expected what they were like.

I ordered Donburi and Tsuruchan ordered nodes.
We also ordered a bowel of soup.

There were many garlic and freshwater clams.
We needed lots of courage to eat it because it probably smelled really stinky.

Luckily, it was really tasty.
The soup was not so strong.
Japanese probably like this soup.

The donbui which I ordered was good, too.
But it was too large for me, so I couldn’t eat all of them.

Taiwan foods are always really good.

TAIWAN-10/1-2- AT THE MUSEUM

(2011-10-13)
R0012924.jpg

R0012925.jpg

We couldn't find a ticket box at the museum.
We looked for the ticket box, then a lady told us the entrance fee was for free.
We borrowed a earphone guide.
It was free, too.
I was so surprised.

At the museum we could see a history of Taiwan pottery.
Some of techniques came from Japan

What is your image of pottery?
My image is just table wares or vases.

Of course, they are potteries.
But we could also see a toilet or electric stuff.
Do you remember some electric plugs made of ceramics?

I agreed that they were potteries, too.

They held a special exhibit.
They showed me latest manufactures.
Some of them were so beautiful.
A good thing was that the works were not so difficult to understand.
I mean latest works are sometimes too original, so sometimes I can't understand what they want to make.
But their works were not like that.

I wanted to buy something at the museum because the entrance fee and the phone guide were for free, so I wanted to pay for something.

But we would have to go to the pottery town, so I didn’t want to buy pottery there.
I felt sorry, but I didn’t buy anything there.

TAIWAN-10/1-1- BREAKFAST AT THE HOTEL

(2011-10-12)
We had breakfast at the hotel.
It was a cafeteria style.
They had Chinese, American, and, Japanese style breakfasts.
All of them seemed very delicious but I couldn’t eat all of them, of course.
They also had many fresh juices.
I don’t like a cafeteria style breakfast.
If someone serves this breakfast, I’ll probably like this.

That days plan was visiting Ingu.
Ingu is famous of pottery.
Luckily, Tsuru-chan likes pottery as I.

We took a local train and arrived at Ingu around 9:30am.
We got on a free bus and got off at the Pottery museum.

TAIWAN-9/30-6-CONCERT-2-

(2011-10-11)
The concert was very exciting.
The concert hall was really small, so we could see him very close.

I think he likes to create stages, so I think people can enjoy seeing his concert.
When he makes the stages, he thinks how the stage makes his fans happy.

This concert was the additional concert.
The good point was that I didn’t see many Japanese.

I knew there were some tours to go to his concerts from Japan.
The concerts were on October 1 and 2.
Many his fans booked these tours, so I guess his fans came to October 1 and 2.

But there was no tour on 30th September.
I could feel how much the fans in Taiwan liked Domoto and how much they enjoyed the concert.
It was not only exciting concert but also heart warming concert.

We got back to the hotel about 10pm.
We were a little hungry but there was no restaurant which still opened, so we ate at McDonalds.

TAIWAM -9/30-5-CONCERT-1-

(2011-10-10)
After we left there finally we headed to a concert hall.

I am not sure if I am a big fan of Domoto Koichi.
But I often go to see his concerts or musicals.
I like him.
But I know I want to need a reason to visit some places.
I mean I can see him in Osaka but I wanted to visit some places, that’s why I go to his concerts except Osaka.

Anyway we headed to the concert hall.
It's really hard to find the hall.
We got off at the wrong station because I had wrong information.
I asked a few people at the station.
A guy said we needed about 30 minutes to get there.
We didn’t have any power to walk for 30 minutes, so finally we took a taxi.

It was raining hard.
I had to wait for more than half an hour outside of the hall.
I didn’t know where the last point of the waiting line was.

It seemed it was boring but I enjoyed the waiting time.
The staffs of the concert were very polite and they helped me a lot.
And Doumoto’s fans were very polite, too.
They talked to us and translated Japanese to Chinese.

Taiwanese helped a lot, so my hurt was really warm.

R0012912.jpg

TAIWAN-9/30-4- CAFE

(2011-10-09)
After we left there we looked around that area.
There were many shops, so we stopped at some shops.
Looking at local stuff is one of interests of trips.
We looked at dried fruits, snacks, tea, fruits, etc.

Tsuru-chan bought Japanese snack.
She said it was really good but it was hard to find it in Japan.
I thought it was interesting.

We still had time until a concert.
We got a little tired, so we took a break at a coffee shop.

That was a good coffee shop.
It was very comfortable, and waiter and waitress were very polite.
The waitress could speak English very well and she explained their drinks.

I always think the people in Taiwan always kind.
They are not strong and know the best stance between them and us.

Tsuru-chan drank their special coffee.
I was a little tired, so I drank sweet chocolate.
We stayed there about 30 minutes, but we wanted to stay more.
We said we wanted to visit that coffee shop again.

R0012910.jpg

TAIWAN-9/30-3-鼎泰豊

(2011-10-08)
R0012905.jpg
We left the hotel about 2:00pm and headed to a famous shouronpow(kind of steam bun) restaurant.

We went to 鼎泰豊.
Tsuru-chan strongly recommended this restaurant.
No.
Her co-workers strongly recommended it.

I knew this restaurant, but this restaurant’s reputation is bad lately.
Many many tourists rush to this restaurant, so their tastes are getting worse and worse.

And I think this restaurant is
Ummmmm…..
I prefer the restaurant which I visited last time.
That restaurant was very popular in that area.
Many local people visited there; some people ate at the restaurant and the other people brought them back to their homes.
They cooked in front of the restaurant.
So, you can see and eat hot and fresh shouronpou.
If you go to Taiwan, I won't recommend you to go to 鼎泰豊.

R0012908.jpg

TAIWAN-9/30-2-HOTEL

(2011-10-07)
The hotel which we stayed at was located close to Taipei Station.
It was a very…..strange hotel!!!
It was a beautiful and European style hotel.
I like this hotel.
However, it's was REALLY unique.

I mean.
For example….
There is a bathtub on the left of the door.
There is no partition between the bathtub and the room.

There are sliding windows in the bathroom.
If you open the windows, you can see the bed room

Ummm

I don't think you can imagine the room.

If you want to see it, you should visit there.
Even if you look at the website, you will never expect what it is like.

AT KANKI

I went to Taiwan again.
I always say people in Taiwan are very polite.
I re-realized it this time.

I left Kansai International Airport on 30th September.
I arrived at Taiwan Taoyan Airport around 11A.M.
It was a litter earlier than time schedule.

The flight was very comfortable and meal was really good.
I didn't expect I would be able to eat such a good meal in a short flight.

At the airport I waited for my friend, Tsuru-chan, for about one hour.
She lives in Nagoya, so she got on the airplane at Nagoya Airport.

We took an airport bus and headed to Taipei City.
From the bus, we could see Taiwan streets and Townes.
We felt we had arrived at Taiwan.
